New financial year, new risks? A simple insurance check for NDIS providers
👉🏼 A new financial year means new goals, new plans, and for many allied health providers, a business that looks a little different from the one they had this time last year.
It’s worth making sure your insurance cover still matches what you actually do right now.
Check for:
1. Are all your services listed?
2. Has your work changed this year?
3. Are your limits still enough?
4. Are you covered for how you deliver your services?
Read more about the checklist and how you can be prepared for the new EOFY in our latest blog.

If you’re new to the NDIS, you may have heard the terms Plan Manager and Support Coordinator and wondered…
“Aren’t they the same thing?” 🤔
They are not.
Both roles are there to help you get the most out of your NDIS plan, but they support you in very different ways.
A Plan Manager helps with the financial side of your plan. Think of them like your NDIS bookkeeper. They can help pay provider invoices, track your budgets, send spending reports, and help you understand what you can and can’t claim.
A Support Coordinator helps you connect with the right supports and services. They can help you understand your plan, find providers, coordinate services, manage challenges, and build your confidence to use your supports.
Here’s the simple difference:
✅ A Plan Manager helps manage your NDIS funding and invoices
✅ A Support Coordinator helps you find, organise, and manage your supports
It’s easy to mix the two up because both roles help you use your plan, both are NDIS-funded, and both may be involved in your NDIS journey.
But they are not interchangeable.
Your Plan Manager does not choose providers, book supports, or manage service issues.
Your Support Coordinator does not pay invoices or manage your plan budget.
Understanding the difference can help you know who to contact, what support to ask for, and how to feel more in control of your NDIS plan.
Need help understanding what you’re funded for? Check your NDIS plan or speak with your LAC, planner, Plan Manager, or Support Coordinator.
Wondering if online therapy will actually work for your child?
It depends on the child, the therapy goals and the way the sessions are delivered.
But for many families, online therapy is much more than just convenient.
❤️ It can be as effective as face-to-face therapy.
The research shows online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy across psychology, speech pathology and OT.
The NDIS also recognises telehealth as a valid therapeutic support when it is appropriate and good value for money.
So how do you know if it might work for your family?
🗣️ Online speech therapy may work well if your child engages with screens, visuals or games.
📌 Speech therapy can be highly interactive online.
✅ Therapists can use digital activities, pictures, videos and play-based tasks.
For AAC users, online therapy can be especially useful because the therapist can see how the communication device is used at home.
Therapy is more helpful when it connects to real life.
🏡 Online OT may work well if the goals are about daily routines.
Morning routines.
Dressing.
Mealtimes.
Sensory regulation.
Fine motor tasks.
Emotional regulation at home.
Online OT lets the therapist see the actual environment where these things happen.
They can coach parents in the moment.
They can suggest changes using what the family already has at home.
✅ Online therapy might be a good fit if:
💛 Getting to appointments is stressful
💛 Your child is more comfortable at home
💛 You live far from services
💛 You need parent coaching
💛 Your goals are connected to everyday routines
💛 You want therapy to fit real life, not just clinic life
Online therapy is not a second-best option.
For the right child, the right goals and the right therapist, it can be practical, effective and easier to sustain.

Engagement activities will run until June 2026.
Expressions of interest close Sunday, 3 June 2026.
The NDIS is looking for participants to take part in a practice support needs assessment in a safe testing environment.

• support better decision making for assessors
Important to know:
• You will not receive a personal plan or budget outcome from this activity.
• This will not affect your current NDIS plan or funding.
What will you do in this engagement?
The activity sessions take place across multiple days with up to 4 hours of engagement:
