Gleeson FC

Thank you Mick Romeo🇱🇻❤️

The Gleeson Football Club would like to acknowledge and thank Michael Romeo, who has advised the club that he will be stepping down from his position as Reserves Coach and taking a very well-earned break from the club.

It is impossible to put into words the impact Mick has had on our club. He was a major driving force behind the birth of Gleeson FC back in 2004 and was an inaugural player, going on to make 165 appearances and tasted championship success in 2005.

Since the club’s conception, he has served on the committee in every year except two, dedicating countless hours to ensuring the club continued to grow and thrive.

His leadership extended beyond the field, serving as President from 2010-2013 and again from 2016-2024, helping steer the club through both challenging and successful times.

As a coach, Michael leaves behind an incredible legacy. He holds the record for the most games coached at Gleeson FC with 361 matches, he guided the Reserves to a Rudi Templin Shield in 2020 and a Championship in 2019, along with being an Assistant Coach of our 2023 A Grade championship team.

Through every high and low, Michael has been there. Whether as a player, coach, committee member, president, volunteer or supporter his passion, dedication and love for Gleeson FC have never wavered. He has spent countless hours doing whatever was needed for the betterment of the club and has helped shape Gleeson FC into what it is today.

Quite simply, Michael is the heart and soul of our football club.

While we wish him all the best as he takes a well-deserved break, one thing we know for certain is that Gleeson FC will always be part of who he is and we have no doubt we’ll see him back around the club in the future.

On behalf of everyone at Gleeson FC, thank you Mick for your extraordinary commitment, leadership and service over more than two decades.

Please make sure you order your tickets for Presentation Night on November 7 as we come together to celebrate Michael’s incredible contribution and all the hard work he has put into our club.❤️
