Community Spirit and Assistance

I think we need greater responsibility, communication and support from our heads of division and community alike. Not many of us are specialists in all areas but we all have something special to share. This is why I will be looking to create a database filled with teachers, students and anyone with qualifications or time in any areas form support, sport and education all the way to household and trade work in an effort to bring communities closer together, especially when times are tough.
If somebody for example is absolutely run off their feet due to work commitments or some unforeseen circumstance and their child for instance is struggling with school quite badly, then I would like our communities to have tutors on hand (perhaps earning credit towards something like a scholarship, some form of recognition or discounted service for themselves) to assist before the problem gets to out of hand. I know some might say education is a state responsibility but that’s not a very communal way of looking at the problem if we can make help available.
We could have coaches/ instructors lined up and waiting to deploy to struggling clubs or new innovative ideas. Cooks or chefs wanting to donate some time to a charitable cause, even a trade base ready to construct, repair or give aid to someone struggling. The possibilities are truly endless and all these services provided would be recognised annually.
Get start vouchers for sport are a start, but we could be offering someone who has a parent willing to give up their time for coaching a whole team, free annual fees. When it comes to equipment and supplies for any of these services we could set up a citywide depo where good reusable equipment could be donated and collected giving those that previously couldn’t afford it a chance to participate as-well. The majority of this could be run by volunteers for volunteers and community creating a massive joint effort powering the right community spirit.
I think efforts like these made with vigour will not only help out families and individuals but also help curb constant and growing problems like homelessness and youth crime leading to a better future for all.
