The Boys' Brigade New South Wales

The Boys' Brigade New South Wales

I was a member of the Boys Brigade (UK) for 15 years and have always been proud of my service and thankful for all that it taught me.
On hearing the news today that BB NSW has not signed up to the Government Redress scheme I was ashamed of the BB. Your decision appears to go against the core beliefs of the BB.
Why haven't you signed up to the Redress scheme?
Just wondering what your response to this is
I have heard terrible news in Nigeria 9 Boys Brigaders were martyred at the weekend during a peaceful march through the city of Gombe Metropolis.

The names of the victims are:

RIP and my condolences to the BB community as they mourn these fine young boys who are now rejoicing in the arms of their Father in Heaven. Sure and Steadfast.
Wondering about information for Boys Brigade Clubs on the South Coast, NSW?
Just found this face book page excellent. To see. Was once Captain of 73 rd Tarro Beresfield BB. 27 years we were active. With big numbers. We run 6 NSW BB Canoeing Championships at Clarence Town in the Hunter Valley. Which were always well attended by Sydney Company s.

Providing fun, challenge & adventure for all school-aged children. BB trains and empowers young people for effective leading & impact in their world today.

The Boys Brigade Australia in New south Wales is part of an international organisation run in 60 countries around the world with over 500 000 boys. BB provides opportunities for young people to link up with others around Australia and Overseas with National camps held every 3 years and participation in international games.

Operating as usual

We were very sorry to hear of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, earlier today.

Prince Philip was the longest-serving royal consort in British history and the oldest serving partner of a reigning monarch.

One of his biggest roles was the establishment of the Duke of Edinburgh award, which he launched in 1956.

The program now involves schools and youth organisations in more than 60 countries, including Australia.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our Patron, HM The Queen, and all of the Royal Family at this sad time.

It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.

Further announcements will be made in due course. Visit to read the announcement in full.

[03/23/20]   Following new restrictions on gatherings put in place by the Australian government, which restricts non-essential services including places of worship and religious gatherings, churches will not be able to hold physical gatherings.

These restrictions are expected to be in place for several months. This will impact the upcoming LDC 2020 and Awards Presentation Ceremonies (as well as other activities). BBNSW will be reviewing these activities and, in line with further developments and subsequent advice from authorities in the coming months, will explore options for these activities.

In the Meantime?
During this period when we are not able to meet with our members physically, we encourage Companies do implement strategies to maintain communications with members and their families. This could include:
Video conferencing (e.g. Skype, Zoom)
Group messages (Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram)
Regular social media posts and updates (Facebook, Instagram)
Emailing or posting activity packs
Recordings of short talks
Leaders are encouraged to keep parents and members up to date 17/03/2020

Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

Formerly Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)

As many of our members, leaders and parents may be aware, there has been an increase in the number of confirmed cases for COVID-19 in NSW. As the situation continues to develop, Boys’ Brigade NSW is monitoring the situation closely.

The health and safety of all members and leaders should always be the priority of all Boys’ Brigade Companies. This means that Boys’ Brigade Companies are encouraged to adopt strategies and policies to protect members and leaders from possible infection. Boys’ Brigade NSW encourages all Companies to consult with their church to ensure that any specific guidelines outlined by the church are followed, in addition to the minimum guidelines suggested by Boys’ Brigade NSW below.

In line with guidelines from NSW Health, we suggest that Companies adopt the following guidelines as a minimum. As the situation is changing, these are current recommendations as at today – refer to NSW Health for more information:

Anyone who has travelled overseas in the last 14 days, or has been in close contact with someone who has returned from those countries, must self-isolate and not attend any Boys’ Brigade activities until the end of this period.

Anyone who has been identified as a close contact of any positive cases of COVID-19 must self-isolate for 14 days and not attend any Boys’ Brigade activities until the end of this period.

Anyone who exhibits cold- or flu-like symptoms (examples include coughing, sore throat and fever) must not attend any Boys’ Brigade activities. Should there be any concern of a possible infection with COVID-19, please ensure that you seek medical attention (see NSW Health website for more information).

Members and leaders are encouraged to observe good hygiene practices, including:
Regular hand washing with soap and water, and hand sanitation using antiseptic hand sanitizer, particularly before the consumption of food and drinks and after using the toilet

If you need to sneeze or cough, cover the cough/sneeze using a tissue (and dispose of it immediately) or the arm (using a flexed elbow), and use wash hands or use hand sanitizer immediately afterwards

Minimise physical contact with others (e.g. refrain from handshakes or other forms of embrace)

Avoiding close contact with anyone who has cold- or flu-like symptoms

We encourage all Companies, members and leaders to be vigilant to adopt stricter guidelines should the situation develop further in your local communities.

We encourage leaders to stay up to date with the latest developments of COVID-19 in NSW using reliable media outlets, and the latest official advice from the following websites:

NSW Government Websites – Updated regularly as the situation develops

Please contact us if you have any concerns.

Congratulations to the young women who received their Pioneer Pin's and Queen's Award's on Saturday November 30, 2019. We'd like to thank everyone who was able to attend and especially thank Her Excellency, Margaret Beazley AO QC Governor of New South Wales.

It is with great sympathy and prayers to friends and Family, that we share with you the news of the passing of Pan Australian Camps founder Mr Max Gray.

PAC 19, Tamborine Mountain was Max's last PA Camp.

He created an event that has spanned decades that allows us to come together a community and a nation to celebrate Boys Brigade.

He is a true Aussie Boys Brigade Legend.

Farewell Mr Gray and Thank You.

Now this looks like a decent walk.

[08/14/19]   This year, the 9th NSW Epping Company will be hosting our annual Juniors Camp, from Friday 1st November to Sunday 3rd November, at Upper Colo Reserve.

The Company invites Juniors members to attend the camp with a parent/guardian. Companies who wish to send members are also required to send along at least one leader to assist in the running of the camp.

If you are interested in attending the camp and would like to know more, please contact Sean [email protected]

[08/12/19]   PAC20 is only months away!

PAC20 will be held at Stanwell Tops, NSW, from 6th to 15th January. It's going to be a great time of fellowship and fun as Brigaders from both Boys' and Girls' Brigade across Australia gather at Stanwell Tops.

There is still time to register to come to PAC! Campers have until the 31st October to register and pay for camp, so if you know anyone in your Company who is still sitting on the fence trying to decide whether they want to come, there is still time!

By this Friday (May 30) we will have 22 weeks before registration closes.

If you are planning to come to camp and haven't registered yet, please don't delay and register today!

To help the planning committee, please choose your electives ASAP so we can let the activities providers know ASAP.

To all of the volunteers that keep our organisation going,

Every drop of your sweat will go towards building the foundation of someone else’s life.

Thanks for working hard with us.

It's National Volunteering Week. #DidYouKnow that 40-49 year olds are the most likely to volunteer, and one in five 15-19 year olds also love to lend a hand? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ #NVW2019 Volunteering Australia

To all the Mothers out there.

Right from the start, you were the one who nurtured us, prayed over us, worried about us, guided us and supported us in every pursuit.

Thank you for being there every day with just the love we needed.
