Antibody tests are used to detect antibodies to the COVID-19 virus to see if it’s likely that you have had the virus before.

The test works by taking a blood sample and detecting the coronavirus antibodies that are in the bloodstream after people have become infected. It also helps determine whether a patient has protection toward COVID-19.

This is a tried and tested method to determine whether a person has been infected with Coronavirus pathogens, either recently (IgM) or more distantly (IgG).
