I am blown away by this! On Monday I bought a $500 star tracker and last night I used it for the first time. The usual exposure on a dark night is 15 seconds at 3200 - 6400 ISO. Last night it was 400 ISO for 240 seconds - 4 minutes!

This is what the stars look like under a Bortle 1 sky. You really can see faint shadows from the Milky Way.

Even in less than ideal conditions it is possible to capture the Milky Way.
This timelapse was taken about an hour from the centre of Brisbane under Bortle Class 4 skies. The light pollution is horrendous, and the humid, windy conditions added to the challenge.
What has been your most challenging photo location?
I drove for over 10 hours, 900 km west, into Outback NSW to find a dark sky. This location is on an isolated peak and has a Bortle 1 rating. That means you can see faint shadows by the light of the Milky Way.
This is what I saw. Sony A7iii with a 24mm lens using my custom intervalometer.

A three hour flight, followed by a 90 minute flight, completed with a 4 hour drive. That's what it took to get here.
Taken on a Sony A7 Rii with a 20mm lens, f2.8, 10 seconds, ISO 6400.
Is this remote? Absolutely! Was it worth it? You tell me.

Midnight, 6°C, after a six hour drive this is what I saw. The setting was beside a dirt road that had not had any traffic since 7PM. Using a 14mm f1.8 lens on my Sony A7iii, controlled by an intervalometer I built. The challenge was to capture a time-lapse sequence.

I haven't been able to get out and take many images for a while for various reasons. Tonight I could not let the sunset pass without putting the drone up to capture a panorama.
