Brightening mornings one bagel at a time 🌈🥯
Big love to Brooklyn Boy Bagels for donating these incredible rainbow bagels this week!
Our amazing chefs turned them into the ultimate brekkie with eggs and bacon ❤️ How good do they look?!
The nights are getting colder.
For many, there’s nowhere to go.
That’s why we keep our doors open.
And on the longest night of the year, we pause.
Each winter solstice, Sydney gathers to remember those who have died while experiencing homelessness, lives too often unseen and for many, remembered publicly only once.
The Homeless Persons’ Memorial Service is a time to honour those lost and to recognise the work that still needs to be done so fewer people face nights without shelter.
Join the community as we come together in remembrance.

In today’s Inner Circle, Wayside Pastor & CEO Jon Owen reflects on the sacred stories held in the most mundane and reminds us of the work the colder months ask of us.
Please donate today to help Wayside keep holding "unfireable mates" and many more we haven’t yet met, who could use the kindness of strangers.

Two weeks ago, former Wayside Pastor & CEO Rev. Graham Long spoke at James Valentine’s memorial. For many years, James welcomed Graham onto his ABC radio program each week to share the stories that became known as the Inner Circle. Together they invited thousands of people into conversations about belonging, kindness, joy, grief, hope and what it means to be human.
In today's Inner Circle, Jon shared an excerpt of Graham's message for James, to honour both these men and the treasured community of humanity we build together.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our dear friend, Jurgen Sperber.
Many of you may remember Jurgen as the cover model of our 2016 Wayside coffee table book, with a photo that captured not only his presence, but his quiet strength and character.
Beyond the images, Jurgen was someone who left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Please join us on Sunday, 14 June at 2pm at Wayside Chapel, Kings Cross, for a memorial to celebrate his life.
Rest peacefully, Jurgen ❤️

As the weather turns colder, small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Recently, Allknd brought people together at PinterestHQ for a special Cause Club event, where volunteers spent the evening creating fleece scarves for Wayside visitors ahead of winter.
In many ways, the evening reflected what we strive for at Wayside every day - people coming together, sharing stories and recognising our common humanity. The handmade scarves are a beautiful expression of that spirit, offering warmth, dignity and a reminder that people care.
Thank you to everyone who took part, and to the Allknd team for delivering these thoughtful gifts to Wayside. Your kindness will help bring comfort and warmth to many people this winter.

Yesterday we were lucky to have our good friends at Pathfinders drop by on day 4 of their annual Pumpkin Run!
The team set off from Tilbuster Station in Armidale on 1 June with over 10 tonnes of pumpkins, travelling to community centres across Newcastle and Sydney. These pumpkins are used to cook and serve warm meals for people doing it tough, including here at the Wayside Chapel.
It’s a powerful initiative supporting communities and spreading a bit of warmth where it’s needed most ❤️
