It takes more than aircraft alone to produce a good display.

Taken last weekend, these photos show a number of different aspects of, and amount of effort and enthusiasm that goes into, an 'Interactive Flying Displays' at the RAAF Museum, Point Cook.

It is only when you have a combination of experienced pilots, enthusiastic volunteers, dedicated viewers (including photographers) and support staff, do you end up with an experience in which the general public feels involved.

As some of you will already know, the RAAF Roulettes performed their last show, for the 2016 season, at Point Cook last Sunday, during one of the RAAF Museum's Interactive Flying Displays.

For something a little different, I thought I'd turn my lens away from the sky (for a short time anyway) and turn it towards my fellow enthusiasts with cameras.

It doesn't matter whether you are a professional, amateur or just an enthusiast, the important thing is you turn up to show your support and, most importantly ... ENJOY !

As some of you will already know, the RAAF Roulettes performed their last show, for the 2016 season, at Point Cook last Sunday during one of the RAAF Museum's Interactive Flying Displays.

For something a little different, I thought I'd turn my lens away from the sky (for a short time anyway) and turn it towards my fellow enthusiasts with cameras.

Visitors were not only treated to the usual superb performance by the Air Force Roulettes at the recent Interactive Flying Display, but were also lucky to see a C-130 Hercules paying a flying visit (pardon the pun) which was making a delivery to the Point Cook Base.

As if that wasn't already enough, we were also treated to a variety of trainer aircraft from the Museum's collection along with some visiting aircraft courtesy members of the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia.

It doesn't matter whether you are a professional, amateur or just an enthusiast, the important thing is you turn up to show your support and most importantly ... ENJOY !

This week's Interactive Flying Display featured the Cessna Birddog, two of them in fact. Although a total of six Birddogs and a Trojan were originally scheduled, the poor weather made it impossible for some of the visiting aircraft to make the trip from therir home-base to Point Cook.

The Cessna Birddog was one of the aircraft involved in major roles of recon and FAC (forward air control) during the Vietnam conflict and was a fitting aircraft to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the battle of Long Tan, which was fought on 18th August 1966.

Thanks go to Rob Fox for putting on a magnificent demonstration of how the 'Dog' could be manouvered within a small area, with extremely short landing and take-offs.

Guess who is coming to a RAAF Base near you? The Roulettes!! The Roulettes, the Air Force's premier aerobatic team, will be performing their magnificant aerial feats at the RAAF Museum at Point Cook Base on Sunday 14 August 2016. The show commences at 1:00pm so don't leave it until the last minute to get to Point Cook. It is a great show for all the family and will cost you nothing.

What a GREAT opportunity ... Not only do you get a flight on a classic aircraft, but also a great way to find out more about Interactive Flying Displays AND see the historical displays at the RAAF Museum at Point Cook! What a great combination :)
