This afternoons chaos on the Gateway Motorway, at Bracken Ridge. The team on scene discussed some recovery options with Transport and Main Roads’ Traffic Response Unit, and the Queensland Police, putting a plan together to clear the scene with minimal disruptions to the remaining open lane.
The decision was made to recover the trailer in the position it was, using the tray of the truck as large shovel to take the trailer and contents away in one go. Queensland Fire also responded to the incident to help separate the trailer hitch from the vehicle.
The team was escorted off the highway to allow it to reopen to the peak hour traffic and found a safe location to preform the rest of the recovery without further disruption to commuters.
The vehicle not damaged in the crash and neither occupant suffered any injuries. The trailer was written off in the incident.
