Fairbridge Festival artistic director says lack of arts industry support "demoralising" Fairbridge Festival Artistic Director laments the cancellation of 30 year event and lack of government support
FolkWorld Inc. has made the difficult decision to cancel Fairbridge Festival 2022 in April. The team has been trying to find solutions to the multitude of challenges that we (and our colleagues in the music and events industry) are currently facing due to COVID-19, but there are just too many uncertainties for us to confidently and safely proceed with an event of this magnitude, at this time.
The production is a complex system, and we acknowledge the impact this cancellation will have on our community made up of artists, suppliers, vendors, staff, sponsors, volunteers, audiences, etc. We thank you in advance for your understanding and on-going support.
Our hearts are heavy, but our passion remains the same – to unite and bring people together, create unique experiences and memories, as well as support a thriving music and arts scene. With every challenge comes growth; and we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to find creative new ways for us to all come together soon.
Love from the FolkWorld Inc. team – presenters of Fairbridge Festival and more (to come)! 🧡

Our Youth Songwriting Workshops as part of the Act Belong Commit Fairbridge Festival Quest Youth Songwriting Competition are underway across WA - and there's still some spots available led by Jaime Jackett in Broome (Feb 5 & 12) and Grace Barbé in Fremantle (Feb 10 & 17).
These sessions are for young musicians aged 12 to 18 years who want to write original songs but don't know where to start. So if you know of any budding beatmakers, lyrical geniuses, or someone who just wants to give songwriting a go, get them along to any one of these workshops.

🧡 UPDATE FROM THE TEAM 🧡
Due to the uncertainly we’re all facing due to COVID-19, it will come as no surprise that behind the scenes, the team is working hard to figure out if we can still deliver the Fairbridge Festival you know and love in an environment of constantly changing unknowns.
With 90 days ‘til festival time, we’re at a critical point in its delivery. Over the coming week/s we are listening to your feedback, evaluating the risks, and communicating with all the people in our beloved community that make Fairbridge Festival the unique experience it is.
Keeping our community safe is our number one priority. May we ask for your patience, as we navigate the impacts of potential restrictions and new regulations, border closures (and potential openings), and the increasing presence of COVID-19 in the community. Thanks for your ongoing support, and please be assured that if we have to cancel you will obtain a refund. More info coming soon.
Love, the Fairbridge Festival team & FolkWorld Inc.

Living on site, with the festival at their fingertips, patrons become one big family for the weekend. This is a festival like no other in WA and is still incredibly affordable.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
Fairbridge Festival 2020 has been postponed due to the evolving status of COVID-19, or Coronavirus.
This decision has been made following direct advice from national health officials and is in light of FolkWorld’s own commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our community. Our Board have been aware of the growing need to protect our audience and we have been planning for this eventuality. We do not make this decision lightly and understand that many musicians, artists, staff, volunteers and extended community will be affected by it.
