Blue Moon Collectables Pinjarra is "All things vintage". Furniture, curios, glassware, crystal, china, silverware, fashion, jewellery, figurines, kitchenailia, linen, garagenalia, tools, tobacconalia, art, books, vinyl records, cameras, military and more.
Operating as usual
280 square meters of floor space isn't enough to display all our collectables and furniture, so we have been upgrading the display cabinets. Another HUGE one will probably be installed over the weekend. That just leaves poor hen pecked Robert to build me one more record bar and I will be off his tail. We have put out some nice stock this week. Drop in at Blue Moon Collectables in Pinjarra for a browse. We are OPEN 7 days a week, 10-5.
Having fun at Blue Moon Collectables on Pinjarra
Managed to get about 50 records sorted from one box, another 3 to go. Lots of 80s hits. Robert tells me we are looking at a stash on Friday after work. I'm not holding out much hope on that lot. Fabulous titles but they have been in a shed for years, so sadly I'm expecting water damaged covers, lots of dust and we will probably be saying not in good enough condition. BUT you never know, fingers crossed. Happy browsing folks.
A few more treasures out. Thank you to Rose and Milton for making contact and selling us their small Wembley Ware collection. That display cabinet looks great now. A lovely 50's oak sewing cabinet on castors is out. A functional 1940-50's drinks trolley on castors. Royal Albert Old English Rose (1937-1945) trios and too many other random bits and pieces to mention.
Pop down to Blue Moon Collectables and Antiques in Pinjarra, we are open 7 days a week, 10am - 5pm.
New treasures, new display at Blue Moon Collectables and Antiques in Pinjarra. Antique and vintage cast iron scales and some lovely sets of brass and wood postal scales made in England. Add in some heavy cast irons (great for door stops) and the display is starting to look full. These were aquired from an English gent, a dealer and collector who is "going back home" after a couple of decades in Australia. I asked him how he could bear to part with them, he said that the cost of shipping is just too expensive and he will have fun hunting all over again for new treasures in England. Living the dream! A few more to come and a truck load of gear still to sort. There is always something new arriving.
I had Rob slaving away making alterations to a couple of vintage wardrobes for the clothes and linen. That end of the shop is looking much more tidy and it's easier to browse. Thanks to my mate Kevin for helping with the muscle to carry the wardrobes in.
It's time for our collectors item to go. A 1957 PUCH VS 50 moped ( made in Austria). So many have been asking for it but it's been on display. We need to make room for more stock, Robert has been reluctant to let it go. Asking price $6750. It works (not registered).
Happy weekend. We are OPEN.
Australia Day public holiday. I hope you are all doing something nice. We are OPEN. More stock out.
He has done it again.Robert has been buying up. I had to sneak peek this lovely ice chest. Fabulous condition, 1920-1930's oak cabinetry, original hinges, handles, latch, on metal castors. It has modern day application. Top section for your ice and drinks, and the lower section with a shelf. It's in great condition. Lots more to come.
Good days trade, lots of nice new people in and our regulars. Thanks everyone for your patronage. A couple new things out today. An original galvanised wash tub, no holes (I wonder who got bathed in that over the years). 3 Vacuum Oil Co Pty Ltd Perth Laurel Kerosene crates, each with divided sections for 3 tins of kero. In great condition, good graphics. These won't last. See what I can dig out tomorrow.
We have been busy!. Enjoy
We have been busy busy. Mo and I have sorted out the clothes section a little better, in eras now. Easy to select and sort when you are on the hunt. A sneak peek at some of the gear coming into the shop over the next week or so...Robert stop buying !!😀
Fabulous stock, fantastic service and down to earth friendly all round nice people. Looks Fab Derek and Kaye.
Hope you all survived the heat and had harmonious gatherings yesterday.
We are open today and every day up to and including the 31st so pop on down (we will close for New Years day).
We had a good week, lots of last minute gift shoppers in.
Thanks for the ongoing support.
What a great weekend and busy week in the run up to Christmas. Folk have dropped in for gifts for family and friends, buying gorgeous gear to use to serve up Christmas lunch and dress up the table. Why not use nice glasses, dishes and cutlery, its not made now like it used to be. We do gift vouchers too if you are stuck for ideas. Remember we are open 7 days a week now, so far its going very well and worth the effort. The only days we will close is Christmas day and New Years day.
We have been busy filling up the displays again. Some lovely china tea trios out. We have re-stocked on oil lamps including miniature moulded glass and porcelain ones, working condition. Lots of retro kitchenalia.
We have some nice occasional/side tables in, several stunning floor lamps fitted with shades, a jarrah smokers stand, even a vintage pair of antique mahogany parlour chairs, wide enough for Santa to sit on! We have a newly arrived sideboard and China cabinet too.
Rob has just priced up 30 various pocket knives, includes a WW11 Jack knife, most of the selection are quality English and German made, all vintage. We even have a His Masters Voice table top gramaphone in working order. Lots more but too much to mention.
Car Park/Yard Sale this Saturday 11th December, starting at 8am on site at Blue Moon Collectables Unit 1/5742 South West Highway Pinjarra. Cash and Carry only. Please bring your own bags and boxes.
Lots on offer including books, bric-a-brac, collectables, retro kitchen gear and glass ware, men's clothing, some military items (a friend is joining us, so not sure what he is bringing) and so much more. We are still sorting boxes out. There might even be a few furniture items.
Why not make a day of it and then go to the Antque Fair at the Pinjarra Civic Centre, 1915 Pinjarra Rd (on both Saturday and Sunday). Relax at the Eden Vale precinct and enjoy a little country atmosphere. It's going to be a warm one, so a beer and lunch at the Premier Hotel across the road from us might be an idea.
Thank you Shire of Murray for mentioning Blue Moon Collectables. Now open 7 days a week 10-5. We have so many great gift items.
Come down this Saturday 11th December. We are holding a Car Park Garage Sale, starting at 8am to beat the heat on the shaded side of the shop. Strictly cash and carry on the day. Please bring your own boxes and bags. There is about 4 trailer loads of all sorts on offer including books, art including oils and prints, boxes and boxes of bric a brac. We have a couple of friends joining us who have their own gear too, some men's clothing, a little bit of military etc, it's a lucky dip!
Thank you for dropping in on your tour. Robert said the shop got busy. Much appreciated for the page mention.
Trading hours leading up to Christmas will be 7 days a week from next Monday 29th November. So we will not be closed on our usual Wednesdays. Operating hours 10am -5pm, Monday - Sunday. Come down and support our small local business in Pinjarra instead of shopping online/overseas. If these hours prove successful we will extend it for the summer and beyond. Looking forward to seeing you all.
We had a great weekend, thanks to those who dropped in for a browse, chat and buy. Mo and I were busy on Thursday sorting more clothes. I have had some more time today to sort out the racks as well. We don't have enough hanging space at the moment, so a few racks are jammed. Working on some space ideas. Enjoy some of the latest clothes out on display.
If anyone has any concrete information on these peoples identity Blue Moon Collectables in Pinjarra would appreciate it. 2 break ins in 2 weeks, lots of gear taken. See the crime report number to let the Police know.
These folk entered the store the day before, Tues 2nd, acting suspicious, filming and photographing what ended up being stolen....index of suspicion is high. Thank you.
The remaining boxes have come in and we have put out the rest of the cabinet handles, draw knobs and hooks. We have a nice selection now, around 56 designs. Enjoy.
Look who was dressed in an original 1950s stunning pink long dress and hat from Blue Moon Collectables and Antiques in Pinjarra for the Melbourne Cup luncheon held at the Pen in Mandurah on Tuesday? Thank you Peta Jones for sharing your photo. We have been busy sorting out our newly arrived stock for our summer display. Mo (our guru vintage fashion expert) is excited. I have been busy washing, sewing on buttons etc and ironing. Lots of fabulous vintage 80's Australian made items to come as well as some stunning original 1950's-70's gear, with a small amount of retro 90's. Lots to squeeze on the racks!
The good news today is that 2 out of 6 boxes have arrived with stacks of new handles, draw pulls and knobs as well as some great brass hooks. We have 5 new pulls, 5 new types of knobs and 7 different styles of single, double and quad hooks. 4 more boxes pending. So lots more to come in. 62kg in total. Gawd the freight cost was massive and the import tax too. Never mind. I hope you like the selection that has arrived.
WTF can I say. Clearly we are a target. 18 days later and it a ground hog day all over again. Scum broke in at 420 am his morning (3rd November 2021). We are losing faith, can't say we are happy to be here now. A small family business like ours cant take this sort of hit. 18 days since the last break in. Once again they targeted military and jewellery. Guess they finished off what they didn't get on the 16th October. Our spirit is broken. I have lost the resolve to stay strong. Anyone with any information please come forward.
We have been busy in between customers today putting out more treasures. A fantastic small buy up from a 98 year old lady, one of the ex publicans from the Royal Hotel Perth and some of her personal effects. Bar mirrors, spirit shot measures, Dunhill and Old Port advertising items, Art Novueau reproduction print, block mounted, 1976 Jim Beam Great Dane decanter, wrought iron planter boxes etc. Also out is a stunning antique balloon back, tapestry upholstery sprung parlour chair, a non matching tapestry upholstered foot stool, a vintage semi moon console table with brass claw feet, a stunning polished wood cigar box and a gorgeous well preserved 1950s English Pedigree Walker Doll, with sleepy eyes who still cries. There are a couple of meteorites, an antique pocket knife, a heavy antique brass door bell, and 2 original khaki felt slouch hats Vietnam era, 1963 and 1964. E njoy the browsing.
A few more treasures out today. Vintage cameras, china, glass ware and miscellaneous items. Stocked up again on Canterbury Blue Chalk paints, creams and whites as requested.
Couple of nice pieces of furniture out today. A stunning fully restored and reupholsterd carved and turned grandfather chair, a large entrance piece - hall stand/hat rack with a seat, a draw, umbrella drip tray and bevelled mirror, as well as a gorgeous open book case with pie crust edging and claw foot legs. More pieces come in every week.
DOH!. Didn't add the pictures
Boxes and boxes. We have so many to go through. A few nice pieces of art glass washed and put out today, a cute bone china trio set x 4, harliquin colours and a rustic garden chair for your meandering pathway, or under the mulberry tree, made from a thick slab of aged jarrah and a brass bed head. Enjoy
We have been busy getting new treasures out. A few ammo boxes, art, carnival and uranium glass, crystal, blue glass genie bottle, various china pieces, copper kitchenalia, brass lamp, kitschy figurines, bar ware including trays, whiskey jugs and mirrors, a vintage globe, mantle clocks, a stunning pair of vintage Murano glass light pendants in grape bunch design and more. Enjoy....
Stocked up on Made by Paint chalk paints, their all in one mineral paints, metallic paints and polyseals. Lots of creams and whites as requested. Canterbury Blue stock is also on its way and a stash of knobs, draw pulls and hooks will arrive in a few weeks. Happy revamping....
Thank you Jan, for dropping off the flowers. Much appreciated.
To the 3 absolute low life SCUM BAGS who at 1.13am this morning (Saturday 16th October) scoped us, cut the lock, smashed a hole in the front glass door to unlock the latch and gain entry, spending the next 6 minutes with the alarms screeching, you must have had ear plugs in as well as being fully masked gloved and disguised a big shout out. A reckoning is coming.
That's right folks, we have been targeted again. Turns out Pinjarra isn't much better than Port Kennedy, having been broken into there February 2020. Feeling very angry and disappointed. No people, insurance doesn't cover the loss. It's a kick in the proverbial guts for our small business.
They also attempted to hack through the back door and break into the till.
They have taken as a rough estimate $20, 000 worth of goods including at least 4 replica rifles and a sword, a dozen replica hand guns as well as jewellery and accessories including rare and unusual compacts, pill and trinket boxes, pearls, one off hand made silver bracelets and necklaces with gemstone settings (mostly agate), vintage strands of crystals, a $3000 24crt gold brooch set with 79 natural green emeralds, dozens of silver bracelets and chains, a stand full of various silver earrings etc. That's a quick guess.
Robert went in as soon as he got the monitored call, beating the police to the scene. I am dreading going in this morning, it's a violation to our sense of wellbeing, security and a big financial loss.
So spread the word. If you see any vintage and unusual jewellery turn up on Market Place, Gumtree, at the markets or in the streets, it's probably ours. If there are replica military items at a deal to good to be true, they are probably ours. Other businesses, if people are turning up and trying to sell you any of the above, particular walk ins, unknowns and over your counter, it's probably ours.
All we have ever tried to do is run an honest business, make a modest living and have a browse store so people can drop in and admire, even if they are not buying. No wonder there isn't many antique and collectable stores left anymore. It hardly seems worth the time, money and effort. Feeling worthless and overcome....
