Over the past week, Paul Haines (Managing Director) and Jeff Rozak (Operations Manager) have been visiting sites across Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario, connecting with new client prospects, and continuing to expand the reach of SSS services across Canada.
While visiting a new site in Exshaw, they stopped to capture this incredible Rocky Mountains backdrop — what a view! ⛰️

We’re pleased to welcome James Sullivan into the role of Senior MLO Supervisor.
With a career spanning mining, military service, and business ownership, James brings a wealth of experience and a practical, well-rounded leadership style. From managing over 3,600 assets at Roy Hill to contributing to offshore Oil & Gas operations and supporting project delivery at SSS, he has developed strong expertise across planning, scheduling, safety, and ex*****on.
James’s strengths lie in his ability to adapt in dynamic environments, quickly implement effective solutions, and lead with a high level of emotional intelligence—particularly in high-pressure settings.
Looking ahead, he is focused on continuing to grow SSS by building a highly capable, specialised MLO team recognised for its expertise across the industry.

We’re pleased to welcome Nina Thomson to the SSS team as our new Safety Coordinator!
Nina brings several years of experience across the mining industry in both operational and safety roles with companies such as BHP and WesTrac. Having also worked shutdowns herself, she understands firsthand the long shifts, demanding work, and time away from home that many crews experience.
While her career has evolved, Nina says she hasn’t hung up her steel caps entirely and is looking forward to getting out on site to meet the crews she’ll be supporting across SSS operations.
Nina believes that while processes and terminology may differ from site to site, the core of safety remains the same — it’s about people. No one is just a number, and everyone plays a part in keeping themselves and their teammates safe.
She’s excited to be joining a team known for its high standards and practical approach to supporting shutdown operations, and looks forward to contributing to the continued growth of the business while helping strengthen the safety culture at SSS.
Please join us in welcoming Nina to the team. 👏

Between shutdowns in Kamloops, Paul Haines and Luke Archer made the most of their RNR this week with two days on the slopes at Sun Peaks Resort. 🏂❄️
Just a 45-minute drive from town — and from New Afton Gold Mine — it’s a pretty incredible way to spend a day off between projects.
From underground shutdowns to mountain runs… not a bad office view!
