With the chilly mornings of late we have had lots of calls about aircons turning themselves off so we thought we would chat about defrost mode.

D E F R O S T M O D E ❄️
What happens when the outdoor ambient temp is very low? Defrost mode occurs when your outdoor unit gets too cold and sometimes the coil is covered in ice. Your system cannot operate until it has defrosted. What might happen?
❄️The indoor unit may stop blowing air or could start blowing cool air.
❄️ You may hear a whooshing sound caused by the outdoor unit attempting to melt away the ice.
❄️ Water might pool at the outdoor unit.
❄️ It may take anywhere from 10-40 minutes to complete the defrost cycle.
❄️Most split units will indicate defrost by flashing LEDs on the front cover. This may be a red or green LED depending on the model. Other units that have a wall controller will display a defrost icon.

Don’t panic, leave the system on and let it do its thing!
