Get real.
Look straight into your own soul and cut the s**t.
What seed did you bury in the dirt
that still wakes you with thorns at dawn?
Who convinced you your sacred darkness was a monster to fear,
instead of the wild roar that calls you home?
If your scars could talk,
would they breathe poetry or bare witness?
How much of your “fierce grace” is just a stage built
for ghosts who never gave a f**k about you anyway?
What if your inner child is still curled into the dark
because every time you reach for them,
you hand them a task list
instead of coloured paints and a blank canvas?
How many seasons have you hidden your loneliness
in the robes of “fiercely independent,”
just to stifle the ache
that you are truly wishing for someone to float naked with you in the ocean that is love?
Do you actually crave the jewels of the wild,
or just a pretty golden chain
fastened so gently it feels like devotion?
How many times have you mistaken the heat of being wanted
for the fire of being seen?
How many times have you endured the storm,
called it loyalty,
and lost pieces of yourself to the frostbite of realizing you were standing in that blizzard alone?
What happens if you stop turning your wounds into chains
and let your untamed joy
run barefoot across your life?
What would you sing if your voice stopped shaking
at the shame from your mother’s judgment,
the shadow of your father’s failures,
or the fear that the gods might hear you and answer your prayers?
What do you wish for?
Stop running from yourself.
Stop lying to your own heart.
Everything you are terrified of wanting
is buried beneath….
Keep digging.
Be so for real!
The truest freedom doesn’t live in the edits.
It waits for you to step completely out of the script—
and finally, fiercely,
be true to you.
One year since we said goodbye. 🕊️🌈
For a long time, the final chapters of my Papa's life were written in shifting, fractured shadows. A cruel and consuming illness slowly ravaged him, and as he wrestled with endless infections, relentless pain, and the heartbreaking erosion of his beautiful mind, his once happy-go-lucky spirit was eclipsed.
In its place grew a weary kind of anger. A deep sorrow for the state of the world, for the way humans treat one another, and for the planet he loved so fiercely. He cared so deeply about everything that, in the end, it seemed to burden him to be part of a humanity that felt increasingly disconnected from itself and from the natural world.
Watching him lose his spark, tethered to the instability of his illness and trapped in a body that had turned against him, was the most profound heartbreak I have EVER endured. I felt helpless, exhausted, and heartbroken in ways I still struggle to put into words. When he finally reached the quiet refuge of palliative care and surrendered, it was not just an ending. It felt like a gentle mercy. A release from the relentless storm he had weathered for so long, and a final chance for both of us to lay down the burdens we had been carrying.
But today, I want to turn our faces back to the light. ☀️🌻
My dearest bestie, Frankie Sunshine, has woven together the most incredible tribute using fragments of a life well lived. Through clips shared by his loved ones and footage captured through his own lens, with those wonderfully shaky hands that trembled more and more over time from his medications, we are brought home to the larrikin he was before the shadows took hold.
The raw laughter. The beautiful, unfiltered silliness. The moments of gratitude, wonder, and love. The magic that glimmered at the very centre of his soul.
This beautiful tribute reminds us why we loved him so much. 🥰
I am forever grateful to the friends and family who were an anchor through those final storm-tossed years, and through every moment since he passed. While it will take me a long time to fully make sense of the wreckage grief leaves behind, this video is my lighthouse. It reminds me that beyond the shadows of his final years was a man who knew profound joy, and that we were blessed enough to share in it with him. 💗
Thank you, Frankie, for giving me back these memories, and for helping me remember the sunshine. ✨💛🎞️🌻
