Good to see the North Underground Decline firing again at Mt Marion.

Rare Engineering has five of the team currently supporting the operation, with Charlie Gawith stepping in as Alternate Underground Manager, James and Nixon on underground geotech, and Chandra and Simon on geotechnical logging.

There’s plenty happening underground, so it’s good to have our crew right in amongst it.

Tamzen cares just as much about people as she does about rocks.

Our resident Rare Engineering legend organised and brought in morning tea for the whole Rare and Entech office to raise awareness for Daffodil Day, supporting cancer research and care.

When Daffodil Day began back in 1986, the five-year cancer survival rate was 46%. Today, thanks in part to decades of community support and investment in cancer research, that figure has risen to 72%.

This role will see you working across a wide variety of projects, commodities, mine sites, and locations, collecting field data that supports open-pit and underground geotechnical work.

Rare Engineering is growing, and we are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Perth-based team 😊

Rare is an independent geotechnical services provider specialising in geotechnical site services for mining operations. We are a new and expanding company, built on significant industry experience, strong technical partnerships and access to mining projects across Australia and overseas.

This role will involve secondments to client mine sites as a site geotechnical engineer. The work will cover a range of commodities, locations and project requirements. We are open to underground or open pit geotechnical experience.

At Rare, you will be part of a business that is still being built. That means your input matters. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the company's future direction, not just fill a role.

We are looking for someone with:
▪️ A degree in Geological Engineering, Geology or Civil Engineering, or postgraduate qualifications in Mining Geomechanics or equivalent
▪️ 2–4 years of geotechnical engineering experience in hard rock mining, although other experience levels will be considered
▪️ Underground or open pit experience
▪️ Strong attention to detail
▪️ A practical approach to site work
▪️ The right to work and live in Australia

How do projects move from Scoping Study to PFS?

Tom and Sonam have recently completed a couple of two-week swings in the Pilbara, carrying out geotechnical logging and sample selection for a client advancing an existing operation towards the next stage of development.

It is great to see the team contributing practical, on-the-ground expertise that helps turn study outcomes into the next phase of project development 😊

Three trips into PNG. One big geotechnical logging program wrapped up.

Chandra was in Papua New Guinea for the third and final visit on this geotechnical logging campaign, working alongside the local geology and geotechnical team throughout the project.

What started as a data-collection program also became a capability-building exercise on the ground. Good geotechnical data relies on consistency, understanding and people who take pride in the process. It has been great to see that develop across each visit.
