*Trigger warning - video re-enactment of everyday harm*

Everyday harm isn’t about extreme or intentional abuse. It’s about the small, routine interactions that quietly erode dignity, trust and choice over time.

When these moments go unrecognised, they become “normalised” in support systems, and people with disability are left carrying the impact.

If you’re in the disability sector looking for resources on how to better support people with disability, check out the Preventing Everyday Harm website: EverydayHarm.org.au

If you’re a person with a disability, support worker, service provider or organisation, we highly recommend checking out www.EverydayHarm.org.au.

🌟 In addition to being a great resource for people in the disability sector, we’re also proud to have two of the people we support on the project's Co-design group 🌟

The Preventing Everyday Harm Project is a research initiative that explores the subtle, everyday interactions in support settings that can leave people with disability feeling disrespected, unheard, offended, or hurt.

These aren’t dramatic acts of abuse, but small moments that accumulate over time and shape people’s experiences of support.

Everyday Harm refers to the small, often subtle moments in support relationships that can leave people with disability feeling unheard, disrespected, or hurt.

These everyday interactions often accumulate over time and have a real impact on people’s well-being and sense of safety.

Happy Neurodiversity Celebration Week!

This week is about recognising and celebrating the incredible strengths, perspectives, and talents of neurodivergent individuals, while also challenging outdated misconceptions.

With around 15–20% of the population being neurodivergent, creating inclusive schools, workplaces, and communities isn’t optional; it’s essential! True inclusion means ensuring neurodiverse individuals feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute in ways that work best for them.

At Inclusion WA, we believe our strength comes from the diversity of our team. That’s why we actively embrace different ways of thinking, encourage inclusive practices, and are committed to creating an environment where every team member has the opportunity, support, and confidence to thrive.

Happy holidays from the team at the Australian Inclusion Group, Inclusion WA, and Inclusion Solutions 🎄🌟.

Whether you celebrate the holidays with friends and family, this is a time of year that brings joy to many. But for others, it can be a reminder of grief, stress, and isolation. Amidst all the holiday activities, it's important to recognise the range of experiences that come with this time of year.

Let's prioritise self-care and reach out to those who might need a little extra support. Whether it's through a conversation, a kind gesture, or simply checking in, small acts of kindness can truly make a difference this holiday season.

It has been a few days since the tragic events on Sunday evening at Bondi Beach, and many people are still trying to process what happened.

We are deeply saddened, and our hearts are heavy. We extend our heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones, and our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected, including families, friends, first responders, and the Australian Jewish community.

Bondi Beach is a place many people associate with joy, beauty, and connection. That such violence occurred there is heartbreaking.

Please continue to take care of yourself and those around you. Support each other, and reach out if you need help.

Happy International Day of People with Disability 2025🎉

Today, we celebrate the resilience, strength, and invaluable contributions of people with disability across the globe. The theme for this year's IDPwD, “fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress”, highlights the importance of listening to diverse voices so we can together shape a better and more inclusive future.

At the Australian Inclusion Group, Inclusion WA, and our sister entity Solutions, social inclusion is at the core of what we do, and we always strive to create opportunities for people with disability to lead and create meaningful change.

We believe our world is better when everyone has a seat at the table.

🌟 Some reflections from our CEO, Leanne Pearman on the 2025 International SRV Conference in Nova Scotia 🌟

A couple of weeks ago, I attended and presented at the 2025 International SRV Conference in Nova Scotia, which was held on the ancestral lands of the Mi’kmaq people. It brought together people from around the world, with a strong contingent of Australians in attendance, who care deeply about dignity, inclusion, and the value of all people, particularly those who have been historically segregated, isolated and devalued.

One of the most moving presentations was from Rodney Mills, a man from Brisbane, who presented “His Good Life”. This was not only a personal story, it was a celebration. Rodney generously shared how, despite his experience of significant social devaluation, he is self-directing and living his own life with purpose and meaning. Rodney’s story was brought to life with the support of his family, friends, team, and support workers, who continue to walk alongside him, guided by SRV principles.

There was something very powerful in people coming together, from across the globe, to support and demonstrate their commitment to inclusion, especially when the world is so unsettled, and where people at risk of devaluation, exploitation and abuse is higher than ever.

My favourite Maori saying:

“He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata.”
“What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.”

What a great night we had at the NDS Awards organised by the National Disability Services on Saturday, and we are beyond proud of our mentor Nigel Matthews, who took home the award for Excellence in Supporting Employment Outcomes!

Nigel was recognised for his incredible work supporting Harri in launching his own business — Bold Charters, an accessible transport company.

This marks the second year in a row that one of our fantastic team members has won this category, and we couldn’t be prouder of the passion and impact our team continues to bring to the employment space.
