Women's Health Week Day 5 focus is to connect.

Staying socially connected does wonders for our health, but many of us feel lost and disconnected. Reaching out doesn't have to be a big gesture to make a difference.

A voice message to a friend you haven't spoken to in a while. That community group you've been meaning to try. Coffee with a neighbour.

Small steps towards connection count just as much as the big ones.

A conversation can change a life.

Today is R U OK? Day.

It's the one day a year that reminds us to ask the question properly. Not the quick "how's it going" we throw around without waiting for an answer, but a real one. The kind where you stop, look at the person in front of you, and actually listen to what they say back.

Sometimes the people doing it the toughest are the ones who seem fine. A workmate who's gone quiet. A mate who's stopped replying to messages. A family member who laughs off "I'm fine" a bit too fast.

You don't need to have the right words or a solution. You just need to be willing to ask, and willing to sit with whatever answer comes.

So today, ask someone. Are you OK?

If you or someone you know needs support, head to ruok.org.au for guidance on how to start the conversation.

Women's Health Week Day 4 focus is to breathe.

Your mental health matters just as much as your physical health, and the two are more connected than people realise. Nutrition, sleep and stress all play into how you feel day to day.

A few small things that help. Stepping outside for a few minutes. Writing down what's on your mind instead of carrying it around all day. Saying no to something that's draining you. Checking in with a friend, even just a quick message.

Take a breath today. You are not alone, and it's okay to ask for support. 💚

The rules that worked at 35 don’t work the same way anymore. That’s not you doing something wrong.

Midlife changes four things at once, and most plans only ever deal with one of them.

Watch to see what’s actually going on, and where to start if you want real answers and real results instead of another guess.

What’s changed the most for you lately, energy, sleep, weight or mindset? Let us know in the comments. 👇

Women's Health Week Day 3 focus is to rest.

Rest is essential for health, but it doesn't always come easily. From stress and shift work to caring duties and hormonal disruption, many things can affect our shut-eye. Sleep and rest is just as important as diet and exercise, yet it's one of the hardest things to get right.

Prioritising sleep and rest isn't always simple, but it's worth the effort. Be kind to yourself about it along the way.

Women's Health Week Day 2 focus is to move, and we're throwing out the idea that it has to be intense or time-consuming to count.

A walk around the block. Stretching while the kettle boils. Dancing in the kitchen. Movement doesn't need a gym membership. It just needs you to start.

Small steps, lasting change.

What's one way you'll move today? 💃

Jean Hailes Women's Health Week runs 7 to 11 September, Australia's biggest week dedicated to women's health.

This year's theme is "do it anyway", about taking small steps for your health, on your terms. Each day of the week has its own focus, covering food, movement, rest, mental wellbeing and connection.

It's a good reminder that health doesn't need to be perfect to count. Small, realistic steps add up.
