Thanks for the sweet memories!

After delighting our taste buds with scrumptious waffles for eight years, Pitcher & Iron - one of my favorite dessert joints - has to pull up stumps.

"Like many small hospitality businesses, we’ve been under pressure from rising operating costs, supply chain challenges, and a difficult trading envirionment," says Pitcher & Iron Head Chef Edwin Stevanus

It’s sad to see another small business succumbing to the tough economic climate.

Go Socceroos!

In the 2022 World Cup, a Socceroos side with no reputation and no fear scored first against eventual finalist France, and pushed eventual champion Argentina right to the last minute.

Sad we can’t be there to support you this year. We’ll be cheering all the way from home.

Do us proud! The whole country is behind you!

Australia and Singapore: a friendship built on shared values, trade, investment, finance, and people.

Beyond Borders, the WA-Singapore Business Council’s new visionary initiative, aims to deepen cooperation between the WA and Singapore business sectors.

A vibrant exchange of ideas at the inaugural lunch, with special guests Anthony Quahe and Ian Goodenough. Singapore, despite its size, is Australia’s 5th largest trading partner and accounts for AUD149b of investment. It is vital that Government policies on tax and trade encourage - not disincentivise - investments and growth.

It’s planting season on the Foreshore!

FoSRF volunteers and City of Canning Natural Area team joined forces this morning at the Shelley Rossmoyne Foreshore, planting 1000 sedges and fringing vegetation. A willie wagtail decided to join the action!

The wet season is the perfect time for this - healthy sedges, healthier foreshore.

We’re Sleeping Out On A Cardboard!

On 18 June, my team and I will join 100 community and corporate leaders to participate in the annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise awareness about homelessness.

A few weeks ago, we asked for support at St John and Paul Church, Willetton. We’re absolutely overwhelmed by your generosity - the community has donated $24k to date!

Thank you for caring and standing with those in need.

Nature Footbridge Needs Work!

The footbridge linking Riverton Bridge Park and Adenia Park creates an uninterrupted nature corridor - one of my favourite local walking routes. The bridge is aging and in need of maintenance. I took a closer look on one of my recent walks and shared some photos here.

Big thanks to Councillor Ben Kunze - City of Canning for championing this!

Please share this post to help raise awareness and bring attention to the maintenance needs.

Traffic Congestion Relief in Canning Vale - Better Late Than Never! 🚧🛣️

The Nicholson Road Flyover project will provide much-needed congestion relief for residents in Canning Vale and the surrounding areas. This is in spite justifiable criticisms about delays, (expected) budget overruns, and other concerns.

Here's a Timeline Snapshot:
- Late 2024: Original planned completion date
- Late 2024: Early works started, including ATCO gas relocation
- Late 2026: Planned start for Western Power service relocation works
- Original budget: $80m

Storm leaves a mess. Locals roll up their sleeves.

The weekend storm scattered debris across parklands and streets. Big kudos to local residents who jumped in, cleared up, and left debris at the kerbside for pickup.

I love my neighbourhood! ❤️

Women's Rights must be protected.

The S*x Discrimination Act must be amended to safeguard women in change rooms, sports, and similar spaces. Following the judgement on Tickle v Giggle, Opposition Leader Angus Taylor MP has committed to changing the Act. PM Anthony Albanese should do the same.

Upholding Women's Rights should be bipartisan.

Celebrating Aidiladha with community spirit, delicious Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine.

A wonderful display of community spirit at the Aidiladha Festival, proudly hosted by Western Australia Network - SWAN and (AMWA -Association of Malaysians in Western Australia).

Aidiladha (or Eid al-Adha) is a festival of sacrifice. It honours the sacrifice of Abraham, a tradition shared by Islamic, Christian, and Jewish faiths. Let us honour the sacrifices of many in our community - parents, carers, volunteers, and especially many of our workers providing essential services this long weekend.

To all my Muslim friends: Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha and Salam Eid al-Adha! May this festival bring peace, unity, and blessings to our families, our communities, and Australia.
