The Western Australian Council of Social Service is the peak body for the WA community sector.

We drive social change with communities, through collective action and policy formulation, strengthening community services and influencing decision makers to ensure justice and equity.

Last night, WACOSS President Mark Glasson won the Community Award at the Western Australian of the Year Awards.

In true Mark style, he used the opportunity to speak about children, families, and people experiencing poverty, and to reinforce the importance of eliminating poverty in Western Australia.

Join us in congratulating Mark for this extremely well-deserved acknowledgment of his hard work and dedication to make WA a great place for all Western Australians to live.

We are All In for National Reconciliation Week 2026.

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

The theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us.

Tomorrow, on Tuesday 26 May 2026, we are asking everyone in the state to unite and share an Acknowledgement of Country on their social pages.

An Acknowledgement of Country is an opportunity to show respect for Traditional Owners and the continuing connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to Country.

Take a video of yourself on Boodja (Country) meaningful to you. Otherwise, you can share one of our downloadable tiles.

Download tiles here:
