How do you do Off page SEO Correctly?

What is A backlink?
A backlink also known as an inbound link or incoming link, is a hyperlink on one website that points to another website. These links are important in the field of search engine optimisation (SEO) because they can influence a website's search engine ranking. Essentially, backlinks are like "votes of confidence" from one website to another, indicating to search engines that the linked-to website is valuable, credible, or authoritative. High-quality backlinks from reputable websites can positively impact a website's SEO by improving its visibility and search engine rankings.

What are the important factors for backlinking?

What is DR?
DR typically stands for "Domain Rating," which is a metric used in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to measure the overall authority and strength of a domain or website. Domain Rating is often associated with SEO tools like Ahrefs.

A website's Domain Rating is calculated based on the number and quality of backlinks it has. Websites with a higher number of high-quality backlinks from authoritative sources tend to have a higher Domain Rating. This metric helps SEO professionals and marketers assess the relative strength of different websites in terms of their ability to rank well in search engine results.

In summary, DR (Domain Rating) is a numerical representation of a website's authority and influence in the digital space, primarily based on its backlink profile. Websites with a higher DR are generally considered more authoritative and may perform better in search engine rankings.

What are anchor texts?

Anchor text refers to the clickable text within a hyperlink. It is the visible and usually underlined part of a link that you can click on to navigate to another webpage. Anchor text provides context and describes the content that the link leads to.

Anchor text is important in several ways, especially for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation):

Relevance: The text within the anchor helps users and search engines understand what the linked page is about. For example, if the anchor text is "best smartphones of 2023," it's clear that the linked page likely contains information about smartphones in the year 2023.

SEO Optimization: Search engines use anchor text as one of the factors to determine the relevance and context of a webpage. Quality anchor text that accurately describes the linked content can
improve a page's search engine ranking for specific keywords.

User Experience: Clear and descriptive anchor text improves the user experience by letting visitors know what to expect when they click on a link. It helps them navigate the web more efficiently.
There are different types of anchor text, including:

There is a lot of anchor text you can find online and some of them are not useful because they are spammy and should be limited to keep search engines from coming. Let’s cut down this list and specify the most useful types of anchor texts for website SEO.

Branded Anchor Text
These anchors include your brand name. Anchors can also appear as a brand name with keywords. For example ‘Internal Link Juicer’ will bring you to Internal Link Juicer’s website homepage.

Partial Match Words/ Phrase Match Anchor Text.
The partial match words or phrase match anchor text includes a keyword for a specific page but without any localization. It covers some words that make the keywords long. For example ‘Setting up your Link Counting” will bring you to a page on setting up your link counting.

Random Anchor Text.
The random anchor text is an unspecific or generic phrase that does not include the target keyword.

Some link analyses will suggest random and generic anchors in the same category. For example ‘This Article’ will direct you to specific blog content.

Exact Match Link Text.
It’s so far the most significant anchor type for your SEO ranking. It serves as the core keywords and money keywords that the page is meant to target. It’s usually boosted by the localization factor. For example, your focus keyword is ‘best practices internal linking’ then you can use this as an anchor.

Related Anchor Text.
The related anchor text links to a page that uses a variation of the target keywords. They are similar to partial match keywords. However, relevant keywords don’t include a precise keyword phrase.

It is necessary to create a related anchor to help Google crawlers better figure out what links are all about. In addition, they keep your link profile distinct so that Google won’t hit you for spammy links. For example, your focus keyword is ‘ automatic link building’ then you can use variations of this keyword like ‘must-have plugins’ then use this as your anchor text for a blog or other website page.

Generic Anchor Text.
The generic anchor doesn’t include any text accrediting a keyword. However, the reader must entrust the surrounding copy for context ideas about what’s on the other side of the link. Generic anchor text looks spammy, but it is powerful because it includes a
straightforward CTA or attracts direct attention to the link. One example of this is ‘Click Here’ is the common anchor or “See More” is also a good example.

Naked Link Text.
The naked link text is just as it is pasted into the copy from the browser bait and is clickable. You can encounter this if someone will add references at the bottom of their article and includes your link as a source.

how to figure out anchor texts for a keyword?

Figuring out anchor texts for a keyword involves a strategic approach to optimize your links for both user experience and SEO. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you determine anchor texts for a keyword:

Keyword Research: Start by conducting keyword research to identify the target keyword or keywords you want to optimize for. Use keyword research tools like Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, Semrush, or Ubersuggest to find relevant and high-traffic keywords.
Content Creation: Create high-quality and informative content around the chosen keyword. Ensure that the content is valuable to your audience and provides useful information.

Keyword Ratios: this can be tricky the best way to do this is to go to Ahrefs and download a anchor text report on your chosen keyword. Then download it into excel and evaluate the KWs into 7 Types of Anchor Texts:- Branded Anchor Text- Partial Match Words/ Phrase Match Anchor Text- Random Anchor Text- Exact Match Link Text-

Related Anchor Text- Generic Anchor Text- Naked Link Text
once you have the list categorized for your keyword you need to do a ratio pie graph that shows you the ratios in percentage.

ratio pie graph that shows you the ratios in percentage
once you have this you also need to look at the total DR required of the first page result. To do this you will need to look at the top 3 pages and create a total the DR for those pages and average them out like this:

Dr averages
You know have the average DR for the top 3 sites (these are FOLLOW links only).
No follow vs Follow link Ratios
Lastly you need to work out the ratios for follow vs no follow this can also be done in ahrefs backlink report

Download the links into a table and categories them by follow vs no follow and then repeat the

Then create a pie chart showing the ratio

No follow vs follow relationship
This now shows you what follow vs no follow ration you need to try and achieve
you now have a road map for building backlinks to your page all you need now is a list of relative URLs to build to - stay tuned to find out how to do that. Find Your PDE SEO and Digital Marketing Edge today.

What is Content Clustering?

Content clustering in SEO is a strategy that involves organizing and structuring your website's content around a central topic or pillar page and its related subtopics or cluster content. The goal is to create a coherent and interconnected network of content that provides in-depth coverage of a particular subject or theme.

Here's how content clustering typically works:
- Pillar Content: You start by creating a comprehensive, high-quality, and informative pillar content or pillar page on a core topic or keyword. This serves as the main hub of information.
- Cluster Content: Around the pillar content, you create multiple pieces of related content, often blog posts or articles, that delve into specific aspects, subtopics, or long-tail keywords related to the main topic. These are known as cluster content.
- Internal Linking: You establish strong internal linking between the pillar content and the cluster content. Each cluster content piece should link back to the pillar page, and vice versa. This interlinking helps search engines understand the hierarchy and relationship between the pages.
- Keyword Targeting: Each cluster content piece targets specific keywords related to the overarching topic, allowing you to rank for a broader range of search queries.
- User Experience: Content clustering not only benefits SEO but also improves the user experience on your website. Visitors can easily navigate between the pillar page and the relevant cluster content to find the information they need.
- Authority and Ranking: As your cluster content pages gain authority and rank well for their respective keywords, they contribute to the overall authority of the pillar page. This can help improve the ranking of the pillar page itself in search engine results.

Content clustering is an effective SEO strategy because it helps search engines understand the depth and breadth of your content on a particular topic. It also enables you to capture a wider range of search traffic by targeting various related keywords. Additionally, it enhances the organization and structure of your website, making it more user-friendly and informative for your audience.
