Brooks celebrates parkrun volunteers this National Volunteer Week! | parkrun AU Blog 13/05/2026

Hi Follks,
Did you know that next week is National Volunteer Week, and that anyone who volunteered at parkrun in the last year is automatically in the draw for some Brooks running shoes? Good luck to all our Perry Lakes hi-vis vest heroes!

Brooks celebrates parkrun volunteers this National Volunteer Week! | parkrun AU Blog Our friends at Brooks know that every parkrun is powered by more than walkers and runners, itโ€™s powered by people in the local community. This National Volunteer Week, Brooks want to recognise and celebrate the incredible volunteers who make parkrun possible each and every weekend. ย  From cheerin...

241 runner and 16 volunteers made parkrun possible at Perry Lakes parkrun this morning. Thanks especially to Keith and the 2 other runners that responded very soon after Keith, when we had a last minute mandatory volunteer role to fill this morning.

It's an important reminder to everyone that parkrun cannot operate without volunteers and we do expect everyone within our parkrun community to volunteer from time to time, to help keep us self-sustainable. The volunteer roster is always available to see on-line or within the parkrun app and you can volunteer through the app, via e-mail or by sending us a facebook message. By filling our roster in advance it saves a lot of stress from our volunteer Run Directors, chasing up people to volunteer each week.

We welcomed visitors from Melbourne, Adelaide and NSW, this week.

Well done to Lucas (J10), Madeline (J10), Jordan (25), Sharon (25), Tracy (25), Nicola (50), Victoria (100) and Peter (100) for achieving their parkrun milestones.

๐Ÿšจ Important Reminder for parkrunners ๐Ÿšจ

Weโ€™d like to kindly remind everyone that children under the age of 11 must be within armโ€™s reach of a parent, guardian, or designated adult before, during and after parkrun.

This rule is in place for the safety and wellbeing of our younger participants and is part of parkrunโ€™s global safeguarding policy โ€” not something we can bend or overlook.

๐Ÿ‘Ÿ If your child is between the ages of 4 and 10 they are welcome to take part on foot by running or walking at parkrun and they must be accompanied throughout the event by a designated adult.
We know how much fun it is to watch our young runners enjoying parkrun, and we want to keep it safe and welcoming for all.
Once they have reached the age of 11 they are welcome to take part unsupervised, so long as their parents are happy for them to do so.

Thank you for your understanding and support ๐Ÿ’›
Letโ€™s keep parkrun positive, safe, and enjoyable for everyone!

It was a chilly morning at Perry Lakes parkrun and our attendance dropped this week as a result.
Congratulations to junior runners Oscar and Olivia running their 10th parkrun. Congratulations to Kathleen and Helen respectively participating in their 25th and 50th parkruns.
Jon Storey was RD for his 100th time and Jordan enjoyed her first time volunteering.
Thanks to all the volunteers for making Perry Lakes parkrun an enjoyable start to everyones weekend.
Please see a summary of today's results below.
See you next week!!!

**EDIT** We've found our car park marshal, all set for parkrunday.

Urgent appeal for a Car Park Marshal. At Perry Lakes parkrun we have a mandatory volunteer position of Car Park marshal that must be filled each week. At the moment this position is still vacant for parkrunday.
Please assist us in ensuring that tomorrow is parkrunday and not just Saturday.
