On a recent vessel inspection in New Zealand it was interesting to learn about the history of the time ball and how it was used by ships captains to check their chronometer. The service started in 1867 and continued to be used until 1910 where its original function was discontinued but remained as a way to warn local fisherman of high sea outside the heads.

Nice variety of commercial and recreational vessels this week between Busselton, Jurien Bay and Fremantle. WA coastline, one of the best!! Finished the week off with a feed of crays and a couple of frothies!!
