When a child is struggling, it's natural to look for a reason.

Sometimes we ask:

"What's wrong with this child?"

But what if we paused and became curious instead?

What if we asked:

"What happened to this child?"

Or perhaps...

"What might this child be experiencing?"

That small shift changes everything.

Instead of looking for faults, we begin looking for understanding.

Instead of seeing behaviour as the problem, we begin to ask what that behaviour might be communicating.

Over more than 30 years in education, I've learned that curiosity opens doors that judgement never can.

Every child has a story.

When we take the time to understand it, we're often in a much better position to help.
