As a long-standing Subiaco institution. we were opened by a family with Greek heritage (island of Kastellorizo near the Turkish coast) over 20 years ago.

Boucla means 'buckle' in Greek.

Boucla Cafe lovingly maintains a cozy, Moroccan-inspired atmosphere with Mediterranean and Latin American inspired dishes.

Renowned for its cakes. Thriving under Devi our indispensable manager..

We are known for our distinctive, shadowy, and cozy interior filled with colorful pottery, mosaic bowls, and Moroccan touches.

There is a leafy courtyard with seating in the rear.

From early morning we offer Mediterranean breakfast and lunch items like shakshuka, huevos rancheros and Turkish eggs.

In essence, Boucla’s history is one of enduring charm, strong cultural ties, and consistently delicious food, making it a cherished part of Subiaco’s cafe scene.

Today we celebrate the women who shape Subiaco — the makers, carers, creatives and community builders who bring warmth to our streets and meaning to our everyday moments.

This year’s theme, Balance the Scales, reminds us that fairness and opportunity grow through care, connection and showing up for one another.

From all of us at Boucla, we’re raising a cup and a fork to the women who make our neighbourhood what it is.
