To our lovely LW community,
We have some updates to share with you ⊠Our location and services are shifting for the next few months.
Northbridge has been our home for three amazing years, but itâs time to change things up.
Unfortunately we could not agree on the terms of our lease and have decided to seek out a new home.
With change comes fresh opportunity, and we welcome your ideas for our next location.
In the meantime we will continue to offer printing, scanning and archival services from our home studio. Film developing will be on pause until we lock in our new space.
We are still in full swing at 188 Newcastle St for the time being. Come and say gâday, drop your film and collect your negs if you can.
WED 4 OCTOBER : last day to drop film for developing. (Mail-in orders should arrive by this date too please.)
SATURDAY 7 OCTOBER : last day open at 188 Newcastle St.
We are super grateful for your love and support over the years. We all feel very lucky to work with your beautiful images and canât wait to be back soon with the next phase of Lab West. More from us to come!

A good image deserves good development. To ensure the highest quality control, our lab technicians conduct regular control strips and test rolls to ensure our chemicals are performing as they should for all our processes; colour, black & white, ECN-2 and E-6.
It is essential to determine the effectiveness of these chemicals to ensure accurate and consistent results when working with your film to ensure the best possible outcome for your negative.
If you would like to know more about our process and how we do things here please feel free to pop in or drop us a dm đ

Whilst we have been processing E-6 /Slide film in-house for the last 6 months, we have neglected to spread the word! Every 2-3 weeks we develop a batch of E-6 films for all our slide shooters out there. We love seeing the positive results coming out of the tanks. Swing past the lab during our opening hours to drop off your rolls, or order online and place in our 24/7 dropbox or mail to our PO Box.
What is E-6?
E-6/Slide is a type of colour reversal film that is designed to produce slides (also known as transparencies or positives) which can be projected or viewed directly. It involves a different chemical process with a few more steps for the lab. Kodak Ektachrome (E100) and Fuji Velvia are commonly available slide films.
Why shoot E-6?
E-6/Slide film is known for its rich colours and high contrast. It offers a unique and distinctive look that cannot be easily replicated.
We are one of few Australian labs offering this service, and our modern scanning workflow delivers high quality files with greater dynamic range. Take advantage of our unique TIFF option for ultimate creative control. đȘđ

To all our lovely clients ⊠with the impending addition to our Lab West family, we wanted to let you know our turnaround time may be a little longer than usual.
From today (until mid December) it may take up to two weeks to deliver your beautiful images. Hopefully we wonât need quite so long, but we wanted to flag a possible delay.
Our doors will still be open Tues, Thurs and Sat and our team will continue to process film, just at a slower pace with less hands on deck for the moment.
If you need your film urgently, please reach out and we will do our best to prioritise.
Thanks for your continued support during this exciting time. We canât wait to introduce our little lab baby soon đ„°
