The Worst Guest We Ever Had (And What It Taught Us) 👇👇👇

Back in 2024, we got a last-minute one-night booking in the middle of the week.

The guest said she wanted to surprise her husband for his birthday…

She had one previous 5-star review, so at the time we thought it was enough and even approved an early check-in.

When we returned to the property the next day… it was completely destroyed 😭😭😭
😱 The TV had been ripped off the wall and smashed on the floor
😱 Cigarette butts everywhere despite our strict no-smoking policy
😱 The sink full of dirty dishes
😱 Our brand new Dyson vacuum gone
😱 The apartment left in terrible condition

It took 10+ hours to clean and repair everything, and the damages were in the thousands of dollars 💸

It was a tough experience — but it taught us some of the most valuable lessons about short-stay management.

From that point on, we implemented strict systems:
⚠️ Last-minute bookings must be approved
⚠️ Guests must have a minimum of 10 positive reviews
⚠️ We avoid local bookings (often linked to parties)
⚠️ We installed a Ring door camera
⚠️ We added a noise monitoring device to detect parties early

Since then, we haven’t had a situation like this again.

Short-stay management isn’t just about bookings — it’s about protecting the property and managing risk 〽️
