Any client, friend or student of mine will know that if I’m asked to comment on the impact influencers are having on our wellness routines - good luck stopping me!

Wellness culture has become so overwhelming that most of us feel like we’re failing at being healthy before we’ve even finished our breakfast.

So when Cosmopolitan asked for my take in their “Are You Well?” feature, I got to talk about how confusing, contradictory, and sometimes unhelpful so much of today’s wellness content has become.

Have a read of this month’s issue and let me know what you think! 🤔

I wanted to let you know, I’m closing my books to new 1:1 clients after July 😢

My current clients aren’t going anywhere, but with everything else personally, managing an increasing 1:1 case load is no longer something I’m able to hold.

What does the future look like?

🧍‍♂️ 1:1 Appointments
I have a few spots left for July, and after this my books will be closed for new clients. I’ll have a waitlist for you to jump on if any new spots open up.

📣 Speaking
My speaking and workshops aren’t going anywhere! I love running these so much.

🧑‍🎓 Teaching
I supervise students at a university level and I’m committed to this ongoing. I love teaching what I know and seeing my recent group of students leave the nest last week was bittersweet.

📚 Worth Your Weight
My signature weight loss program also isn’t going anywhere! It’s always available and the best way to learn how to lose weight positively and sustainably.

*Photo of Lenny was really just because that’s where I’m sitting right now 🥰

This is a great read on how lifestyle and nutrition factors can be affecting your sleep and in turn your hormones.

This isn't aimed to shame anyone, but I felt like it needs to be said.

Don't let anyone tell you calories don't matter.

If weight loss isn't working for you, your energy balance NEEDS to be looked at.

You don't need to count calories, but you are over eating and that needs to be addressed.

I wanted to share some thoughts with you that I discussed on my podcast this week in honour of World Health Day.

It's something I feel strongly about: why weight loss isn't always healthy.

While we know carrying excess weight can contribute to various health issues (heart disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, etc.), there are some important health considerations when pursuing weight loss that often get overlooked.

🪫 Less Calories = Less Energy
When you're in a calorie deficit, you're essentially under-fuelling your body. While this is necessary for weight loss, it can impact your energy levels and have flow-on effects if maintained for too long.

🍎 Nutrient Challenges
Eating fewer calories makes it harder to meet your protein and fibre requirements. Adequate protein is crucial for muscle mass and satiety, while fibre supports digestive health and reduces your chronic disease risk. Both are challenging but not impossible to maintain in a calorie deficit (and I teach exactly how to do this in my program!).

Hormonal Implications
Particularly for women, getting to an 'under-fat' state or maintaining a significant calorie deficit for extended periods can disrupt hormonal balance, potentially affecting menstrual cycles and fertility.

This might sound counterintuitive coming from a weight loss nutritionist, but I believe in sustainable, health-focused approaches.

Weight loss can absolutely benefit your health if you're carrying excess weight, but HOW you lose that weight matters tremendously.

Ever feel like you're fighting an uphill battle with your weight?

You're not alone – and it's not entirely your fault.

I just dropped a podcast episode diving into all the sneaky ways our environment makes healthy living tough. Here are the highlights:

🍫 Processed Foods
Our modern food landscape is packed with processed foods that are low in fibre and protein, high in sugar and designed to keep you hungry and craving more.

🚨 The Real Challenges
- We're busier than ever
- Advertising is everywhere (especially targeting kids)
- Social media bombards us with conflicting health advice
- School nutrition education is seriously lacking

My pro tips: Stick to foods closest to their original form, and be skeptical of sensational health claims online.

You can listen to the full episode on Spotify or Apple Pods x
