Child-centred learning in action! In our Kindy room, children are active participants in their own learning journey. Our project floor books provide a space for children to document, revisit, and reflect on their discoveries—empowering them to take ownership and celebrate their growth every step of the way. We love seeing our little learners lead the way!

NAIDOC Week at our centre has been a vibrant celebration of connection, respect, and learning. Our children immersed themselves in collaborative art experiences, exploring the rich sounds, images, and stories of First Nations culture. Through hands-on activities, we honored the spirit of NAIDOC Week and deepened our understanding together. 🌿🎨✨

🌿 NAIDOC Week Community Excursion 🖤💛❤️

Today our children enjoyed a special walk to the City of Vincent Community Centre to attend the Ninni Ngingyaans (Little Echidnas) NAIDOC Week event.

Throughout the morning, we joined in singing songs in Noongar language, listened to engaging stories, and explored Aboriginal culture through hands-on experiences. The children loved using their fingers to create animal tracks before creating their own artworks inspired by Indigenous Australian animals.

As we walked back to the centre, we took the opportunity to slow down and connect with Country. We listened to the sounds around us, noticed the beauty of our surroundings, and had lots of fun exploring our shadows along the way.

These meaningful experiences help children develop an appreciation and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures while fostering curiosity, creativity, and a strong connection with the world around them.

Thank you to the City of Vincent Community Centre for hosting such a wonderful NAIDOC Week event. 🌿

Our Reggio-inspired windows are more than just a feature—they become part of the learning environment. Each week, our nursery children gather to watch the rubbish lorry, connecting with the world beyond our centre. These moments spark curiosity, conversation, and a sense of wonder as the outside world becomes an active part of their daily learning journey.

Our Kindy children have been exploring self-portraits as part of our ongoing ‘All About Me’ project, which began during Harmony Week in March. This journey has taken us across countries, creating passports and celebrating our diverse backgrounds, and now to self-identity—discovering what makes each of us unique. The children have led their own learning and shaped our intentions, enjoying the creative process of using charcoal sticks and paint to express themselves through art. We love seeing their individuality shine!

🖤💛❤️ Welcome to National Reconciliation Week ❤️💛🖤

This week across our centres, we’re proud to acknowledge and celebrate National Reconciliation Week, a meaningful time to learn, reflect and strengthen our connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives.

Throughout the week, our children and educators will be engaging in thoughtful learning experiences designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding and foster respect for the world’s oldest continuing cultures. From storytelling and creative experiences to music & dance, language and shared conversations, we’re excited to create opportunities for meaningful learning and connection together.

We can’t wait to share what’s planned across our centres this week and celebrate these important moments with our community.
