Building Salt & Compass Dive Centre involves more than paperwork and planning, sometimes we need to get out on the boat and explore the reefs ourselves.

Today took us from Kelaa to the harbour, out across the atoll and beneath the surface. Every trip helps us learn more about the local dive sites and the experiences we’ll soon be sharing with our guests.

We can’t wait to welcome divers to this beautiful, less-explored corner of the Far North Maldives. 🤿🌊

Day 1 — heading Far North. 🌊

After months of planning, messages, calls and working out the details from thousands of miles away… we’re finally on our way back to Kelaa.

This time it feels different. We’re not just visiting, we’re heading there to start turning the plans into something real.

A small island. A guest house. A dive centre. And plenty of work ahead.

This is where the Salt & Compass journey really begins.

Rain hammering down, gear everywhere, boxes to sort, equipment to organise and a list of jobs that seems to get longer by the hour.

But this is the real side of setting something up from the ground up. Get wet, get stuck in and get it done.

Salt & Compass Dive Centre and Jasmine Sea Guest House are taking shape one job at a time.

No resort life. No polished edges. Just island life, hard graft and a plan. 🇲🇻
