Orontide were delighted to support the Wirraka Maya Health Service Aboriginal Corporation at their annual community event in celebration of NAIDOC Week 2024.

Our Port Hedland team spent the afternoon manning the BBQ, providing free burgers and drinks to event attendees. The free community event, held at the JD Hardie Centre in Port Hedland, featured a host of activities designed to bring local communities together to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples during NAIDOC Week.

Local businesses, residents and families enjoyed the fun festival atmosphere with community stalls, kids activities, live music, traditional dance, food vans and raffles.

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Tony McClure as the new CEO of Orontide Group Limited! Tony officially stepped into his new role this week, as Stewart Maddison transitions into retirement.

Tony brings over 30 years of leadership experience in mining services, oil and gas, construction, maintenance, fabrication and service delivery. He joins us from his previous role as the WA Regional Manager of an Australian infrastructure design and construction business with a proven track record of driving revenue growth, driving operational excellence, and maintaining high safety standards amongst his attributes.

His career includes senior roles at Guidera O'Connor, MACA Interquip, Mineral Resources, Compass Group, Matrix Offshore and Engineering, Monadelphous and Chevron Australia. Known for his motivational leadership and strategic planning skills, Tony is adept at managing large teams and complex businesses to deliver outstanding results.

Tony has shared his excitement, saying, “Orontide has enormous potential as a significant engineering and preservation maintenance company in Western Australia. I look forward to building on the success that Orontide has achieved over the past 45 years and further strengthening the company.”

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Stewart Maddison for his dedicated service as CEO. Stewart will commence his transition to retirement with a new role as a non-executive director on our Board of Directors.

Meet our new General Manager Industrial Services.

Fazl Bolar Soharab has been appointed to this role following the recent retirement of long-serving General Manager, Rick McManus.

Fazl has significant experience in industrial services and engineering maintenance and has had a long and successful career with Orontide.

Whilst he has some big shoes to fill, we are confident that Fazl has what it takes to continue to build on the success of our Industrial Services division. Fazl’s role in the establishment of Orontide’s Commercial Marine and Defence Engineering capabilities and other significant achievements have been instrumental to the division’s success making him an asset to the Orontide business.

"The most fulfilling aspect of my career at Orontide has been the opportunity to influence, guide and mentor our people, observing their progression and growth in their own career journey as I continue to evolve alongside them. The contribution and creation of a strong organisational culture has been an incredible highlight and something I am most passionate about,” he said.

Congratulations to Jillian Allan, from our Industrial Services team, winner of the Health and Safety Representative Award in the WHS Awards 2023.

Jillian was announced as the winner of this award category at the WHS Awards Gala Dinner 2023, held in celebration and recognition of the safety successes of WA safety professionals and organisations. Jillian was among safety professionals and guests from various industries attending the event at Crown Perth.

Jillian is part of a team of over 30 people working in trade roles including Painters, Fitters and Boilermaker/Welders. Working in a male dominated high risk environment is challenging for anyone, but Jill has taken her role as a Health and Safety Representative to the next level and, through hard work, determination and a positive attitude, has made a significant difference to our safety culture.

The annual WHS Awards recognise and reward individuals and organisational effort and achievement in improving work health and safety.
