Our September Town Hall was a little different this month.
In support of our colleague Amelia, the EDC team held a Shave Your Head for Amelia Day, with EDC donating $100 for every person brave enough to take part.
13 shaved heads = $1,300 raised!
It was a small gesture to show Amelia that the whole EDC team is behind her as she takes on her fight against Stage 4 Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.
We also welcomed our new COO, Matt Rudas, to his first EDC Town Hall and, fittingly, put our usual quarterly award on hold until October so the day could remain focused on supporting one of our own.

Project Summary - Conveyor Drive Dynamics

Scope:
▪️ Conduct a dynamic audit of the conveyor drivetrain, involving site measurements to evaluate risk of proposed conveyor drive speed increase.
▪️ Complete modal testing on conveyor drive base.
▪️ Complete vibration testing on conveyor drive during operation.

Challenges:
▪️ Drivetrain has significant flywheel and motor masses on a relatively flexible steel base.
▪️ Significant proposed speed increase from ~900 RPM to ~ 1800 RPM.
▪️ Multiple sources of excitation within the drivetrain.

Success:
▪️ Identified multiple modes (axial and lateral) at risk of being excited at the proposed new speed.
▪️ Identified potential for design modifications to the drive base prior to the speed increase to enable safe and reliable high speed operation.

Office Administrator (Part-Time) Job in Ardross, Perth WA - SEEK Support efficient day-to-day administration of the EDC office across multiple business functions.

EDC recently provided the opportunity for some Perth office-based staff to visit site (Port Hedland) and gain a better understanding of the operations behind the projects we support day to day.
Thank you to BHP for the tour through Port Hedland and for showing the team the balance machines and minesite operations. Seeing everything up close gave them some great perspective on the scale and complexity of the work being delivered. Special thanks to Chris Corke, Craig McKervill and the Port Hedland teams, and Dan Drysdale for the quick post-tour catch up around Pretty Pool before heading home.
A very worthwhile experience and great cultural initiative by EDC.
