Men’s Mental Health Week, held every June, is a vital opportunity to raise awareness about the mental health struggles many men face, often in silence. Despite growing conversations around mental well-being, many men are still hesitant to seek help due to stigma, societal pressure, or the belief that showing emotion is a sign of weakness.
The reality is confronting. In Australia, men account for about 75% of all suicides. Too many suffer alone, dealing with depression, anxiety, or stress without the support they need. Traditional expectations, such as being the “strong provider” or “toughing it out,” can prevent men from reaching out when it matters most.
This week is about changing that. It’s about encouraging honest conversations, checking in with our mates, and reminding the men in our lives that it's okay to open up. True strength is found in vulnerability, connection, and seeking support when needed.
Take a moment this week to reach out—ask someone how they’re going, and be ready to listen. Let’s create safe spaces at home, in the workplace, and our communities for men to speak freely about their mental health.
If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available.
Call Lifeline WA on 13 11 14 — available 24/7, confidential, and here to listen.
Together, we can break the stigma—and save lives.

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week 2025 (27 May – 3 June). This year’s theme, “Bridging Now to Next,” calls on us all to reflect, connect, and act — drawing strength from our past to shape a more just and inclusive future.
Across our country, reconciliation is not just a word — it’s a journey. One that requires courage, truth-telling, and a willingness to walk together with respect and purpose. As we acknowledge the enduring cultures, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, we also recognise the work still to be done.
This week, and every week, let’s honour the stories that have shaped this land for over 65,000 years — and take real steps toward a future grounded in equality, dignity, and unity.
Change starts with all of us. Let’s take those steps — together.
