Another start to the week, there’s so many possibilities out there this week with the new moon over the weekend🙌🎣.

I wanted to share some of the challenges of yesterdays session, managed to find some fish but it was difficult.

We can definitely get set in our ways, habits, routines even little superstitions when we are planning and heading out fishing.

In the past I have not experienced much success with fishing NW wind’s especially when targeting bread and butter fish off the beach.

Yesterday I decided to head out with no real expectations, low tide and very challenging with the amount of w**d still in the water.

The barometer was stable and there was cloud so I had some things going for me in my mind anyway.

I decided against fishing an open beach as I told myself I would need somewhere to try where the fish has coverage bait and predators alike.

I managed to eventually find a spot alongside some reef, I will always head down to the water a few hours before the bite window so I can allow myself time to relocate, this has saved me many donuts sessions over the years.

The w**d was on the surface and on the bottom of the water column so it made it difficult to feel the bites and stay connected with my bait on the line.

Over the years I have found holding the rod and slowly moving the offering has worked well instead of leaving the rod in the holder, don’t get me wrong I have been successful with rods being set out also.

However when the conditions are tough like yesterday, the winds and the current made it difficult and I just felt more confident of holding the rod and bouncing the bait back through the wash.

At 5am on the dot I got a little nudge followed by a big hit and the rod loaded up, actually woke me up to be honest but the bait got taken and the hooks didn’t set how 🤷‍♂️.

But then the adrenaline started to kick in and I quickly sent another bait out, that was a good sign.
I had a belry bag set to my right inline with the reef so the wind and current would take the scent over the reef and hopefully bring some fish out to have a sniff around, it seemed to be working.
Along with throwing in cubes of old bait every few cast it’s the little things that sometimes make all the difference.

The wind picked up after that cast making it harder to keep the line tight and feel the bites.

Over the next 40mins I donated several baits to the w**d and small tarwhine population.
I missed several good bites not as good as the one good take at 5 but I was starting to get a little fustrated I knew there was fish around but the conditions were tough and I felt the fish were not feeding well also was I going to succeed on my mission today.

Coming up to 6am and I had saved some fresh hardy heads, a bait I can honestly say I don’t normally use off the beaches.
Wrappped the bait in some Vexed Fishing thread very impressed with the thread it comes in a range of thicknesses and doesn’t get stuck into my hooks so I really like it.

Started to talk to the fish and as you can see in the video I finally managed to come up tight.

Most of the reports yesterday off the beaches came from groynes, Rockwalls and reefs that’s not a coincidence at all in my eyes.

Tomorrow morning sees a moderate SW wind and cloud along with a morning high tide and a day closer to the new moon, I will find it hard not to head down and have a few cast.

Overall I’m glad I ventured down yesterday, good for the soul and you are always learning and finding endless experiences and opportunities while being on the water.
Would I fish a NW wind again, YES🎣.

Have a great day everyone, don’t forget we have a giveaway running until next Thursday, a simple share gets you an entry cheers👌🎣.

Nw winds wasn’t sure I should head out, cloud and some dirty water along with fresh bait did the trick👌🎣.

Just lost our SW breeze here now a strong southerly, this won’t help the w**d situation off many local beaches so close to the weekend.

Who is out now trying their luck, if so good luck.

Good morning everyone looking like another sunny spring day.

I decided to head down to the local beach this morning and watch the sunrise good for the soul.

I must say I am not liking the current local conditions at all.
Apart from the w**d that is plaguing a lot of our local beaches the calm conditions along with light easterly winds are not encouraging for the big schools to come in close and feed🎣.

I would suggest looking at the the next few evenings for a session, rock walls and groynes would be my recommendation for this week.

As I was watching the sun appear into the sky it was clear to see the moon still up bright and shining, I have not experienced too many red hot sessions with the moon up during the mornings.

We are slowly approaching the new moon next week which will certainly help to improve the fish activity.

I am setting myself a challenge over the weekend to go fish Sunday morning with the NW winds currently forecast, last weekend a fellow angler Quinten had an amazing session on the NW winds now I believe or had more to do with the weather shifting and barometer dropping but I would like to see if we can create the similar situation this Sunday.

Snapper will be caught on NW winds quite often but big hungry schools of tailor I have not seen this off our metro beaches so should be interesting.

The river will certainly fire up over the next few days as the weather heats up.

The beaches will be slow this week, I am waiting to see the wind and cloud closer to Sunday morning to make a call.

Yes you will catch fish on all sorts of winds, swells tides but over the years the calm easterly mornings just don’t deliver the goods off many open beaches.

I hope your day goes well, don’t forget we have a giveaway today so stay tuned.

Still some w**d banked around the local beaches.

Hope it clears for the weekend🙌🎣.

Any residents in Australia can join in.

Just had a look at the beaches still w**d and dirty water should start to clear over the next few days.

Keen to take the kids down this week for some bread and butter species off the local beaches🙌🎣.

Happy cold and windy Monday everyone I hope your weekends were eventful with many tight lines🎣.

As we welcome in October the year is flying on by so quickly, we are welcomed today with gust of 50k winds.

The next few days will allow many keen and brave anglers to target land based snapper of the rock walls and groynes.

This weather will also yes wait for it push in more seaw**d to our local beaches🤦‍♂️.

The bread and butter fish like tailor made the most of the last 3 days feeding hard off the beaches before the weather started shifting.

Hopefully this will be one of the last stormy set of conditions we will see and the beaches get one last chance to create some shape and structure before the typical morning easterlies push all the sand back into the holes/deeper water sections.

One thing I’m confident of is once this weather settles the fish will come in big numbers to feed of the local beaches and that’s when I will be armed and ready.

I have said this many times before you can catch some quality snapper after the weather shifts in when the water is still slightly dirty🙌🎣.

Have a good day.

Daniel Pardini coming up tight this afternoon.

Whole fresh herring on a set of 6/0 circle hooks snelled with 80lb leader.

He has been putting a few hours into this style of fishing and I am stoked he found one hunting off the stones in 5m of water.

This morning the coast was on fire 🔥, not my ideal winds for beach fishing but many ventured out before the weather turned and were met with big hungry tailor.

Rockwalls, groynes and beaches with broken rock all produced some very good sized fish.
Nice work👌🎣.

One of the best full moon periods locally in months and I’m sure the next new moon will be just as productive🙌🎣.

Very high barometer next Wednesday with light winds, tides are not ideal next week but there will be windows when the tides are moving water and bait around.

Time to start planning next weeks sessions.

It has been great to hear from so many anglers coming up tight👌🎣.

NW winds are in a sign of the change in weather, I have found over the years the NW winds along with northern winds can move around alot of w**d and can shut the beach fishing right off.

Snapper chases are eagerly waiting for the wind and swell to slowly increase as the snapper will start to head in with the changes.

Barometer will also start to drop from mid morning, but you won’t know what’s happening out on the water by sitting at home.

October is now upon us, the fishing metro land based will now start to fire 🔥 and after Tuesday next week we will start to see some typical weather conditions.

Easterlies in the morning and my favourite afternoon winds the Sw winds will be in full force.

In a few weeks we also we see some double tides with good morning and evening tides.
Very excited for the next few weeks of fishing 🙌🎣.

Have a great day everyone.

As I sit down after a very productive eventful metro land based session I thought I would share some of the things that help me get lucky and come up tight🎣.

I’m am not a pro or pretend to be but want to share what I have picked up along the way alot from my dad and much from trial and error.

Most years in the metro area September starts to see larger spawning tailor raid the beaches, rock walls and come in and out of the river with tide changes.

This year we have seen slightly different weather patterns and it feels to me we are about a month behind a typical season of these events happening.

When the fish are reported, through social media, private messages and many phone calls this is when it’s time to be proactive and start to go hunting.

The schooling fish like tailor, smaller mulloway and herring are constantly moving around, locations for me are the last thing on my mind when chasing a good session.

The number one thing I consider is structure finding a good bait source for the fish to feed on.

Friday I missed out, picked a stretch of coastline that was plagued by w**d and I missed out, I did however go further south and was lucky to see a few anglers come up tight.

The w**d build up this year has been horrible,, it’s bad every year and I feel that we sometimes just simply forget about it when we are enjoying the fishing action in the summer months.

Today I wanted redemption, I knew the open beaches were heavily w**ded out so I had to go hug some reefy grounds.

Now winds, SW in my opinion are the best winds for so many fish to actively feed in, this morning the wind where I was heading to was 30k SW super challenging but this wind this morning helped me come up tight no question.

Choosing the correct fishing gear for the current weather, winds, swell and even tides will help you catch so many more fish.
I have worked hard to own many different fishing combos to help me fish all sorts of conditions.

Today I set out with a 13ft light weight rod, why so long you ask, the length of the rod today allowed me to cast out past the swell and keep the line off the floating w**d.
The length of the rod also helps when the larger fish are around to give you more leverage and control fighting the fish.

Choosing the correct fishing gear for the beach and conditions you are fishing will allow you to catch more fish.

I knew I had the wind this morning, but I still set up a belry bag with a rag soaked in fish oil.
This helps to one attract the fish to the area bait fish and the larger fish and secondly fires the fish into a feeding frenzy at times.

Every cast I took I would cutt a old piece of bait and cube it up and throw it at the shore line allowing the waves to wash it into the zone I was fishing.
Keeping bait and belry in the area will increase your bite time window and again you will catch more fish.

Second cast this morning I got a nudge and then a second hit a telltale sign of a small mulloway bite, on size but let it swim off just before first light.

The lead up to new moon and full moons will outfish any other moon phase.
The moon this morning was still slowly setting after first light, usually I will get more fish when the moon has set or rising but that strong SW was enough this morning to get the fish very hungry.

I have been lucky to have been shown many of these things that I have shared with you legends.

If you want to get more consistent catches yes more time on the water always will help but taking note of tides, moon phases and local conditions will see you come up tight more and more.

Today as I was slowly bait casting all the fish I decided to release were only lightly pinned and were easily sent back free.

Sharp hooks are always another ideal way to catch more fish don’t use hooks that are starting to show signs of rust.
Today the hooks I used were unused and the fish didn’t stand a chance.

It has been a tough year this year land based but sticking to some of the basic principles will normally see me come up tight.
It is such a great feeling and amazing what it can do for your mental health having a great session Andre it all comes together.
There are many sessions where it just doesn’t happen so I really appreciate and get very excited when it does work out🎣.

If you have read this I really appreciate it, feel free to share it and also leave any tips and tricks you may want to share and help others have a great time on the water.

Now to check the winds for the morning 🙌🎣.
