Make a safety culture change for the better through assessments, training, coaching and consulting.

Safety isn't about protecting you from something, but for something...

Offering safety culture assessments, training, coaching and consulting, Sentis helps organisations to break through the safety plateau and achieve positive safety culture change. As experts in applied psychology and neuroscience, we make safety personal and equip employees with the knowledge, skills and motivation to make safer choices, each and every day. This leads to safer, more engaged workplaces, as well as increased productivity, leadership capability and transformational, sustainable safety culture change. Since the introduction of our pioneering ZIP program in 2003, Sentis has empowered more than 400 companies and 200,000 individuals to think differently about safety.

"All effective controls must function, but not all functioning controls are effective."

That sits at the heart of a new whitepaper from Incident Analytics, built on an analysis of more than 10,000 incidents and 1,000+ critical controls across high-hazard industries.

Join Amy Hawkes, Head of Psychology at Sentis, with special guests Warren Smith and Alex Fernando, Directors at Incident Analytics, as they unpack the whitepaper's findings and explore how to build critical controls that stay reliable under real-world pressure.

Nine years on, teams still rate their leader's care first and recognition last.

We revisited our 2017 publication, The State of Safety Leadership, with nearly three times the data. That's 23,595 responses across eleven industries and six regions. Inside, we unpack five key findings and what they mean for safety leadership from here.

Our revisited report is out now. See what nine years of data says about safety leadership, and where your industry sits.

Coaching, recognition, tough conversations, they're just scripts until they come from real authenticity.

Dr Vanessa Cook on why leadership starts from the inside out.

When 95% of a room tells you they'll use what they learned on Monday morning, you know a program has landed. That's exactly what happened at last week's Brisbane Positive Safety Open Program.

One participant even commented, "Maddie and Brett were exceptional! Fabulous, engaging and effective facilitation of concepts. Lots of useful tools for the group to take away, and heaps of opportunities for future business - everyone loved you!"

Congratulations on a job well done Dr Brett Solomon and Maddie Storey, and thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a successful day.

You already influence someone's safety experience today, physically, psychologically and socially.

Here's how πŸ‘‡

The Single Greatest Influence on Safety Isn't a System. It's a Leader. 13/09/2026

It's time to get on the same page.

Safety and people teams are often solving the same problem from opposite ends of the building.

Different frameworks. Different language. Different budgets. Same gap.

Leadership capability is the shared foundation that connects physical safety outcomes and psychosocial ones. Build it once, and both teams move forward.

Dr Vanessa Cook and Scott Amy are exploring what that actually looks like in practice, in our next free webinar.

We talk a lot about what helps people feel safe to speak up, ask for help and look out for one another. Feeling genuinely cared for is a big part of that.

That’s why R U OK? Day is a useful reminder to pay attention to the small, everyday ways we show people we care.

Actively Caring is one of our values, and it shapes the way we try to show up for each other and support the leaders we work with. Often, it looks like simple actions:
πŸ‘‚ Asking someone how they’re going and taking the time to listen
πŸ’ Noticing when someone seems quieter than usual and checking in
🚢 Walking over for a conversation instead of sending another message
πŸ” Following up again next week, rather than leaving it at one check-in
πŸ• Helping lighten the load so someone can take a proper break

These actions may be simple, but they can have more impact than we realise. This R U OK? Day, take a conscious moment to check in with someone.

Passing an audit and having a control that actually works are two different things.

Many organisations only discover the gap after something goes wrong.

Join Amy Hawkes, Head of Psychology at Sentis, with special guests Warren Smith and Alex Fernando, Directors at Incident Analytics, as they explore how to build critical controls that stay reliable in high-pressure situations.

More incident reports isn't always bad news.

A quiet dashboard isn't the same thing as a strong safety culture, it might just mean people don't feel safe telling you what's going on.

Our research shows underreporting nearly halves under good leadership, because people trust what happens after they speak up.

What a great week at QMIHSC. πŸ™Œ

Dr Brett Solomon represented Sentis at this year's Queensland Mining Industry Health & Safety Conference on the Gold Coast, which explored the theme 'Our Greatest Resource - Our People'.

In addition to connecting with some familiar faces, and plenty of new ones, Brett also had the privilege of presenting 'Leveraging Neuroscience for Safer Workplaces'.

Big shout out to the organisers for pulling together such a professional, and invaluable event. We will definitely be back next year!
