HOW DO I GET MY LOKKS TO GROW FASTER?

For many people with lokks this question arises. Due to methods involving excessive backcombing, a lot of people lose a lot of their length and what was once shoulder length hair, becomes chin length lokks.
The main key to encouraging lokks to grow is to have regular maintenance, on both the bases as well as the lokk lengths and especially the ends.
Having regular base maintenance will stimulate the scalp and follicles, encouraging growth.
Having regular lokk length maintenance will keep the lokks as long and cylindrical as possible. If loops and bumps are allowed to form, these will turn the lokk into what we call Cannibal lokks which will gradually shorten the lokk. Getting your lokk ends maintained is also very important for maximum lokk length. If left to their own devices, the ends will cannibalise as well and you will see your lokks getting shorter and shorter.
If you have blunted ends (ends that have been tucked up into a rounded end) this will of course shorten your lokks so perhaps consider having your ends brushed out and tapered into a point.
Washing your lokks regularly and maintaining good scalp health will definitely encourage your lokks to grow. Poor scalp health can cause disorders such as dandruff and Seborrhoic Deramtitis which can lead to hair loss. Washing and massaging the scalp with a good shampoo will stimulate the hair follicles and disperse excess scalp oils keeping things fresh and healthy.

I am a qualified Systa System Dreadlokktician with over four years experience.
I have worked in Weirdsistas Salons based in Melbourne and now work in my own at-home studio in Melton.
I am also available in Ballarat by request.

I am now offering clipping/shaving services.

Alot of the time, when my clients have partial dreadlocks with a shave, they have the clipping service does at Barber Shops and all too often their dreadlocks are being cut into..

This creates a big problem when it comes to bases.. they get smaller and smaller and eventually you end up with dreadlocks being completely lost or they fall out as they are too heavy for the now, tiny base!

I have experience in using clippers and shaving from years of doing it for friends and family, I have fantastic skills when it comes to linework..

I've had clients request shaves often and am fully confident in my abilities to do so..
I can also do patterned shaves and will be offering theses services going forward.

Dreadlock Maintenance I did the other day.. Once again I forgot to take photos before I started..
I didn't install theses dreads, the extensions were done pretty poorly and I would have done the bases differently, some are too big and they are all different shapes..
Some dreads may need to be split down the track.. but we will keep an eye on them and see how they develop
