Melbourne Museum is one of Australia's biggest and most loved museums. Melbourne Museum is also home to the world's largest screen - IMAX Melbourne Museum.
Melbourne Museum explores life in Victoria, from our natural environment to our culture and history. Located on Wurundjeri Country in Carlton Gardens (Melbourne, Australia), opposite the World Heritage Listed Royal Exhibition Building, the award-winning Melbourne Museum houses a permanent collection in eight galleries, including one just for children. Melbourne Museum also features the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre and is a space for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people to connect with Victoria’s Koorie (south eastern Aboriginal) people. Melbourne Museum is open daily 9am – 5pm. Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day. Entry to Melbourne Museum is Adult $15, Concession* and Child (3–16 years) free. Discounts available for combined tickets with IMAX. Additional charges may apply for temporary exhibitions.

Barbie®: The Exhibition is coming to Melbourne Museum where visitors can see an especially rare first-edition Barbie doll from 1959. Hand-painted, in her black-and-white bathing suit, she started a legacy that's still evolving over 67 years on.
This doll is one of over 150 remarkable dolls in the exhibition, created by the Design Museum in London and visiting Melbourne for the first time.

We had a pretty great time at our June event - and now we’re doing it all over again for one final celebration of ROME: Empire, Power, People.
Expect a giant, light up disco dancefloor, live DJ sets from Disco Mediterranea (Italian Classic Set) and The D Word, and a unique experience of Melbourne Museum after dark.
Discoteca Italiana: Arrivederci Roma returns for one night only on Friday 16 October.

Our Italian-language kids tour is back for the school holidays!
Step into the world of Ancient Rome on this special, kids-focused, guided tour of ROME: Empire, Power, People. Discover gladiators, emperors, mischievous gods and everyday Roman life through stories, surprising facts and incredible artefacts.
With over 180 objects on display, this interactive experience is perfect for primary school-aged children with conversational Italian. Families are welcome to continue exploring the exhibition after the tour.
