An Extract from the book 101 Essays that Will Change the Way You Think

you have to fight your desire to fully integrate it into your whole consciousness the things you love about others are the things you love about yourself

the things you hate about others are the things you cannot see in yourself.

I have intentionally separated the above line why, because of the impact it has just had on my thinking. The FACT that we cannot see in ourselves the things we hate about others blew my mind. The number of times I have been told by someone that they didn't like this or that about who I am, I just want to HUG THEM AND SAY IT'S OK๐Ÿค—

We are so quick to push someone away and this has opened my eyes to the fact that we have so much more to learn about ourselves than I have ever thought so be kind and look in the mirror before casting stones.

So many of us tell ourselves later here's the deal it never arrives.
The reason we use the word Present because we live in it.

So pull the trigger, and stop wasting time making a decision if something sounds too good to be true then have a conversation with that person.

The more we stop and ask questions and extend the arm of communication we will forever be grateful.

Here are 8 ways to help you know more

1. Price: If the price is significantly lower than market value or what other sellers are offering for a similar product or service, it's a red flag. Scammers often lure people with unusually low prices.

2. Urgency: Be cautious if the seller pressures you to act quickly, claiming the deal is only available for a short time. Scammers use urgency to push people into making decisions without proper consideration.

3. Lack of Information: If there's limited or vague information about the product, service, or seller, and the seller is reluctant to provide more details, it's suspicious. Legitimate sellers typically offer comprehensive details to gain trust.

4. Payment Methods: Be wary of sellers who insist on payment methods that are untraceable or irreversible, such as wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or gift cards. Legitimate transactions usually offer protection to both buyer and seller.

5. Seller's History and Reviews: A seller with no history, feedback, or predominantly negative reviews is a concerning sign. Scammers often operate through newly created accounts or platforms.

6. Too Many Promises: Deals that come with many promises but lack concrete details or proof of the product's or service's legitimacy can be deceitful.

7. Request for Personal Information: If the deal requires you to provide sensitive personal information upfront, such as your Social Security number or bank account details, it's likely a scam.

8. Quality and Authenticity: If there's any indication that the product might be counterfeit or the service is not as described, it's best to avoid the deal.

Consider this before you start comparing yourself...


As leaders, particularly men in positions of authority, we often grapple with the challenging reality that we may not always be favored by those we oversee. This disconnect might stem from differences in perspective or expectations. It's not uncommon for leaders to feel alienated, noticing a shift in how others perceive themโ€”perhaps even sensing a lack of enthusiasm or commitment from their team, evidenced by frequent absences under the guise of illness.

But is this perception entirely accurate? Reflecting on my own experiences, I recall times when I was the employee who harbored resentment towards a superior. My discontent was rooted in a feeling of disrespect; it wasn't about a lack of gratitude but rather a need for mutual respect and acknowledgment as an individual. This realization underscores the importance of self-reflection for leaders.

Self-reflection is a powerful tool for personal and professional growth. It prompts us to confront our actions and decisions, encouraging us to consider how we can better align with the values and needs of those we lead. Here are some strategies to foster a more empathetic and effective leadership style:

Practice Mindfulness and Meditation:

Dedicate time each day to mindfulness or meditation practices. This can help centre your thoughts, reduce stress, and increase your awareness of your inner strength. Mindfulness helps you stay connected with the present moment, making challenges more manageable.

Set Small, Achievable Goals:

Break down your larger goals into smaller, more manageable tasks. Celebrate each accomplishment, no matter how small, to build confidence and a sense of achievement. This practice reinforces your belief in your capabilities.
Cultivate a Positive Support Network:

Surround yourself with positive, supportive people who believe in you and your potential. Having a strong support system can provide encouragement and help you see the strength that others notice in you during times of doubt.

Engage in Physical Activity:

Regular exercise is not only beneficial for physical health but also for mental well-being. Physical activity releases endorphins, which have mood-lifting properties. It also helps build physical resilience, which can mirror mental toughness.

Your worst enemy is your negative thoughts. Donโ€™t let them beat you
We often think, and that can be our biggest problem our thoughts and how we approach them. Here are some ways to look at and change how we look at and deal with those negative thoughts.

Awareness: Recognize when you're having a negative thought. Sometimes, being aware, that a thought is negative and not necessarily true can diminish its power.

Challenge Negative Thoughts: Ask yourself whether the thought is true, whether you're assuming the worst, or if there's another way to look at the situation. Often, our most negative thoughts are distortions of reality.

Replace with Positive Thoughts: Try to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. This isn't about ignoring problems but about approaching them from a more positive and productive perspective.

Mindfulness and Meditation: These practices can help you stay present and reduce the tendency to ruminate on negative thoughts. They can also help you develop a more compassionate inner dialogue.

Seek Support: Sometimes, we need help from friends, family, or professionals to work through our negative thoughts, especially if they're deeply rooted or overwhelming.

So if you message someone and they don't get back to you straight away stop take 3 DEEP BREATHES and exhale TWICE as long. ( note you may wish to take more then 3 the aim is to calm your thoughts)

This helps regulate your brain in to the space where functional thoughts win out so now you have calmed down you can now wait patiently for that person to get to you with out seeming over eager.
