Update on LB and Pebbles from we have absolutely loved sharing our home with these two sweethearts. We have been asked by so many people what it's like fostering them. Their gorgeous spirits bring so much joy to our days and when they aren't trying to put absolutely everything in their mouths, they are so easy to care for šŸ˜…

On Friday I took LB to see for his banding appointment and I swear he thought he was under arrest and was on his bestest behaviour for Dr Matt, Pebbles on the other hand was up to her usual cheeky games and thought it was so much fun to steal the bin liner from the consultation room šŸ™„

Our journey with them will come to a end on Wednesday as they will be heading to their final foster home as they now have a forever home lined up so they will be getting introduced to life on a property before their adoption!

Don't worry though, we already have two more foster lambs lined up to join us so there will be lots more lamb updates to share 🄰

Mantis is a absolute sweetheart and doesn't have a nasty bone in her body. She loves all the cats in her foster home and especially loves soaking up all your affection in the morning when laying in bed with you.

She's one of the most easy going fosters we have had the pleasure of caring for and she's always ready to enjoy playing with you and her favourite feather rod toys. Mantis has a heart of gold but has found it difficult to find her forever home because she's scared meeting new people.

If you can overlook Mantis's shy side and give her the time she needs to build a bond with you, she will reward you with love and companionship like any other sweet kitty.

To apply for Mantis please complete our adoption application via the link below so that we can call you to discuss more about our adoption process and organise a meet and greet.

BFFR Duke is our biggest good boy in care! Duke has been back and forth to see our vets so many times over the last 10+ months due to allergies. We still don’t have a full understanding of what all of his triggers are but we have definitely identified chicken as one of his biggest triggers. We have tried so many different treatments, diets and tests but still unfortunately have so many questions unanswered.

With his most recent tests we ruled out that he has thyroid or Cushing’s disease as we had become concerned as to why his coat has become so thin lately and he has continued to gain weight between vet visits despite his strict diet due to his food allergies.

As frustrating as it is to still not have all the answers, we know that we are doing all we can for Duke, and we are just so glad that Duke's test results all show that he is nice and healthy especially for a large dog who is turning 7 years old in just 10 days time!

Duke loves meeting everyone who visits BFFR HQ and we are still hopeful that soon enough he will have a special someone who will come visit to offer Duke his very own forever home with them 🄹

It's been another early start at BFFR HQ! Up at 5am to feed and play with the lambs and get everyone fed, toileted, and give medications.

Misty and Daisy are just two of our female 6 month old bunnies heading into the vet this morning for their desexing surgeries! They have had a big breakfast and I have made up lunch boxes with all their favourite foods to take with them this morning for after their surgeries while in recovery.

These lucky girls already have an amazing forever home together that has been fostering them for the last few months as part of our pre adoption program. Our pre adoption program means young animals get the benefits of growing up in their loving homes forever homes until they are old enough for us to complete their veterinary work.

Doesn't it make you laugh when you buy all the softest beds, yet they choose to sleep on the hard cardboard scratcher instead 🤣 These cuties were all so brave for their first vaccinations today.

ā€¼ļøIMPORTANT UPDATEā€¼ļø
Over the last 4 days Dylan has been experiencing more of his intermittent flare ups that affect his bladder function, muscle tone and bowls. During these episodes his bladder becomes difficult or impossible to express, his hind limbs become stiffer and he experiences increased muscle spasms. While his bladder does eventually empty on its own and becomes soft again, I am unfortunately unable to express him again this morning despite his ongoing supportive care. He received an e***a this morning which was successful and he remains on gabapentin and meloxicam as well as his other medications while we continue to monitor him closely.

We've moved Dylan's specialist appointment forward to tomorrow morning in the hope of getting some answers. Given the increasing frequency of his episodes we're looking into more extensive diagnostic work with a neurologist, including an MRI to better understand how Dylan's spinal injury is affecting his body and whether there are treatments available that could improve his quality of life by reducing the frequency of these episodes.

As many of you know rescue never slows down. This week I'm already covering 3 rabbit desexing procedures, 5 cat vaccinations, and veterinary reviews for other medical needs animals in our care. Dylan's specialist consultation and any recommended diagnostics will place significant additional pressure on my limited veterinary budget.

The reality is that pursuing specialist investigations and advanced diagnostics for a special needs cat like Dylan is far beyond what our rescue can fund alone. Every donation represents someone standing beside Dylan and helping us continue his journey. We never take that support for granted, and without it, many of these important opportunities simply wouldn't be possible.

We know Dylan is a happy boy who still has so much joy and love to share. Our goal is to understand what's causing these episodes and what treatment options could improve his comfort and quality of life. If you're able to contribute towards his specialist care and diagnostics, you'll be genuinely be helping make a positive difference to Dylan's life.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

At 14 Boots has perfected the art of being an absolute gentleman. This handsome long-haired senior isn't looking for adventure, excitement, or a busy social calendar. He's looking for something much more special...a kind gentle person to call his own.

Boots dreams of a quiet cosy home where he can spend his days soaking up affection, enjoying gentle brushes, and keeping his favourite human company. If you're searching for a loyal companion who will adore spending time with you, Boots may just be your perfect man.

This dear old soul loves being pampered. As he's gotten older, keeping his magnificent coat in tip-top shape has become a little harder, so he'll need regular grooming to help him look and feel his best. He especially enjoys his spa days and requires clipping underneath and around his bottom for comfort, so his forever family will need to continue this part of his care.

Boots is all caught up on his veterinary care, including his dental work and routine bloodwork, and he's ready to start the next chapter of his life with someone who will cherish him.

Senior cats have so much love to give, and Boots is proof that age is just a number. He's looking for someone willing to make the rest of his life the very best it can be.

Could you be the person Boots has been waiting for?

To apply for Boots please complete our adoption application so that we can call you to discuss more about our adoption process and organise a meet and greet with Boots.

We wanted to start the month by celebrating with you all just how incredibly well our beautiful senior girl Sunshine is doing.

Recently turning 14 years young, Sunshine has had a challenging few months. She was experiencing episodes of going off her food, so we wanted to make sure we left no stone unturned when it came to her health.

Thanks to the amazing team at and the wonderful Dr Carolyn, Sunshine received the full VIP treatment. Before undergoing anaesthesia she had a cardiac ultrasound to ensure her heart was healthy and safe for her dental procedure. The results couldn't have been better as her bloodwork looked fantastic, her heart is in excellent condition and after dental X-rays and a thorough scale and polish, her teeth are looking wonderful too.

The growth on her lip that had us worried was also removed and sent away for testing. We are so relieved to share that the biopsy came back clear of anything sinister and was identified as a hair follicle cyst.

Most importantly, Sunshine is now feeling better than ever. She's back to enjoying her meals, soaking up affection and sharing plenty of smooches with her devoted foster meowmy Kate.

Cases like Sunshine's remind us that age is not a disease. Senior animals have so much love to give and deserve the same chance at happiness, comfort and safety as any younger animal. Far too often older animals are overlooked after being abandoned or surrendered as their veterinary care takes up a lot of resources, yet they make some of the most rewarding companions we have the pleasure of helping.

Now that all of Sunshine's veterinary work is behind her, she is officially looking for a quiet forever home where she can spend her golden years knowing she will never be let down again.

Please send lots of positive vibes for this gorgeous girl as we search for the loving family she has always deserved.
