Together we have grown a Cameron Collects community and our community is supporting Cameron to learn, grow and live a meaningful life. He loves his Work Days, he loves meeting his Collectors and Supporters, he loves the Refund Point Staff and he loves his Support Workers. He loves getting up in the morning and having a purpose.
Because of you Cameron has grown in confidence and skills. We watch him now and marvel at what he can do. He still needs constant support, supervision and care but he is learning skills we never imagined he would learn. He still can’t talk but he tries all the time - I love listening to him trying to copy Google Maps and, in his special way, reading the collection list.
We are so grateful to Containers for Change WA, Containers For Cash Mandurah, Scouts WA Recycling Kenwick and the other refund points Cameron has used, Mastec, Mandurah Mazda, all the newspapers who’ve run stories, the businesses and community organisations who have supported Cameron. And we’re especially grateful for all of Cameron’s amazing home based collectors who trust us to enter their properties, usually upsetting all of the dogs. You have all changed Cameron’s life and we are so thankful for your support.
As a family we are also extremely grateful for Cameron’s Support Workers who work with us to support Cameron while he works - driving, protecting and guiding him, squashing cockroaches, getting beer all over themselves, explaining themselves to suspicious neighbours, carrying heavy loads and helping Cameron to challenge himself and learn new skills. It’s a team effort with Michael, Zoe and myself collecting and supporting Cameron when he isn’t able to enjoy his independence and freedom with Shona and Angela.
We are looking forward to an even bigger and more exciting 2022 for Cameron. We’ve established the business and proven it can work. We purchased the van which is putting a big hole in the finances but it was the right thing to do and we’ll keep slowly saving for his car. (and a newer van I hope)
We will all keep protecting our planet by saving containers from landfill and showing the world that people living with disabilities have abilities and can lead productive, meaningful lives whilst being a part of their community.
And the word community leads me to one final thank you - thank you to our incredible home town - Pinjarra - and the surrounding townships of Waroona, Ravenswood, North & South Yunderup. Your support of Cameron over the last year has been mind blowing. Not only the containers you give Cameron but also the friendship you offer him - thank you, thank you, thank you. And thank you Subiaco you are an incredibly supporting community.

I don’t know where to start here….
Last night we celebrated 15 years of Dance Avenue and what a celebration it was.. I am so incredibly grateful and ridiculously proud of all we have achieved in that time..
It was our biggest shows to date with over 200 students performing over 2 shows, not an easy task but it felt like a dream..
A massive shout out to everyone that helped put together last night show, from my staff to backstage helpers, those who sold tickets and programs, signed students in and out, to our stage manager and music manager I couldn’t have pulled off last night without you…
