This could be the end.

Following the recent media surrounding disposable vapes falling into the hands of school children, our State Government, in all their wisdom, are moving to outlaw vaping entirely in our state. Myself and all other West Australian store owners have been told that selling any vaping products, from batteries, coils, chargers, even nicotine free e-liquid, is now considered unlawful.

This is despite us repeatedly passing inspections from the Health Department and being told first hand that we are operating completely within the law over the past several years. No, the laws have not changed. There have been no amendments to the Tobacco Control Act. They've simply changed their minds, with no regard for the tens of thousands of West Australians who rely on vaping as an effective quitting aid, nor the dozens of small family businesses who've followed the letter of the law for years, and have invested millions of dollars into growing their businesses based on assurances from the Health Department that everything was perfectly legal.

This is nothing short of a complete abuse of power, bordering on harassment, a complete disregard for due process or natural justice, and a spit in the face to dozens of hard working West Australians and those that rely on them for employment.

We need you, our customers, and the general public who are tired of having your freedom of choice as an adult, a tax paying citizen of this state, taken from you, now more than ever, to make your voices heard, to rally against this injustice and let Mark McGowan and the Labour Government know that you won't stand for it. Teen vaping is a problem, this is not disputed, but the problem was created entirely by our governments lack of vision and puritan, prohibitionist views, mark my words, further restricting adults access to vaping products will only further exacerbate the problem.

Are we just going to accept that our government can simply decide overnight that your business must close its doors, without due process, without consultation, without compromise or a period of compliance and leave families in financial ruin for the sole reason of portraying a strong stance to the public and media? We are not the problem. We are the solution.

Please, make your voices heard while we battle this decision, or very soon every vape store in Western Australia will be forced to close their doors. Reach out to your local Labor MP, contact McGowan's office directly and express your outrage, and do not stop until you are heard. You are a citizen and a voter and you have a say. Our entire industry depends on it.
