Mandurah shark incident

A surfer has been “bumped” by a two metre shark at Cosies Surf Break in Falcon this morning.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development officers confirmed a person was knocked while surfing about 7am.

All beaches within one kilometre of Falcon Bay were closed shortly after the interaction.

Local Government Rangers have since reopened beaches.

Mandurah City Rangers have closed the estuary pool and surrounding waters after a local fisherman reported seeing a 4-metre tiger shark entering the channel about 1:50pm.

The lifesaving helicopter and water police are conducting patrols of the area.

Those who were at the Smart Street venue on Saturday, January 22, between the hours of 11:45pm and 1am on Sunday, have been told to get tested and isolate “immediately”.

Miami Bakehouse in West Pinjarra has also been listed as a site.

WA Health said those who visited the Forrest Highway northbound cafe on Friday, January 21 between 7:30am and 8:30am should follow the same advice.

“Get tested immediately and isolate until you receive a negative result, unless directly advised otherwise by the Department of Health.” WA Health said.
