Kelsey is running a handful of Goddess Vase workshops over the next two weekends. She will be teaching you how to hand build your very own female-figured vessel (but all the details are left up to you!) & when you pick up your vase after firing you’ll also take home a bunch of freshly picked Euca Flora for your own arrangement.

Because let’s face it; ceramics & fresh flowers is a match made in heaven! 💫

Hello beautiful flora lovers; I’m taking a Winter break for the next few weeks. Flower deliveries will resume on Wednesday 17th July & I’ll be back online from Monday the 15th July.

May this glorious rain continue & everyone has a happy and safe school holiday period.

Am I the only one who finds these blooms simply beautiful, even just on their own?

They are endemic to Western Australia and you’ll see these large shrubs/small trees dotted around Mandurah. They’re everywhere down South also.

They make a stunning cut flower! Every element about them is visually pleasing; the large white buds, the pale pink flower blooming, even the older flowers turn a deeper red in colour. The stems are deep crimson and the dark green leaves make an intense contrast with the white and red flowers/buds.

My friends already know how special this flower is to me- Our eldest daughter’s middle name was derived from the pincushion hakea. I’d planted one 4 years prior to her birth (for the flowers!) and it thrived but not once did it flower. The day before I went into labour we saw our first flower. Our daughter’s middle name is Bloom.

Every year around her birthday we enjoy these flowers together 💗

I feel so lucky to be able to hand pick these stems in the fresh air and sunshine. There’s no driving up to Perth, no flower markets & no single-use cellophane wrapping or packaging; just me and multiple buckets & my snips.

All of the colours are slowly changing around the property- bright vivid greens, to rosey pinks. And I’m starting to see new growth, already, after the big dump of steamy rain a week or so back (bring on more!)

• What a week… •

Some weeks are harder than others right?

I have been rather absent lately. Last week I was picking flowers & I unknowingly disturbed one or a few wasps & was stung on my throat and arms. It caught me off guard & gave me a decent fright at the time. I wish I knew what kind of wasp it was; all I saw was something large (50 cent piece size) and all black flying directly at my face.

The days afterward the bites became red & hot & nerve-like pain occurred. Ice packs were a saviour! I also felt nauseous & unsettled.

We also welcomed our new little addition pictured above. He has been great fun but also a very significant distraction.

I’m now channelling a calmer, more grounded week ahead 🙏🏼
