You know at Murphy's we will always support where we can for wildlife & animal organisations, and with a 3rd of the koala population perished and rising, there is an uncertain future for our koalas. As much as we like to help WA first, our other states need our help urgently.

Tonight, we will be fundraising for WIRES to help rescue & rehabilitate koalas & other animals in NSW. This non-profit organisation, like many, will need all the help that can to rescue & rehabilitate the koalas - and their habitat.
From 9pm, we're asking for a voluntary donation entry fee. Gold coin or higher would be much appreciated.
Murphy's is kicking off the donations with $500.

About WIRES & the cause:
Catastrophic fires, the worst drought in history and record high temperatures are taking a tragic toll on native wildlife.
In WIRES history we have never seen a concurrent series of emergencies events like those that began in November. Hundreds of fires over weeks have burnt over 4 million hectares of land in NSW alone. Many animals were already struggling with a lack of water and food due to the drought. With the fires destroying unprecedented amounts of habitat, food shortages have increased and lack of suitable habitat will be a significant long-term challenge for surviving wildlife.
It is impossible to know how many animals have perished and it will be many months before the impact on wild populations can be better understood but ecologists at Sydney University have estimated over 480 million animals have been affected in Australia since September.
We have over 2500 volunteers in 28 branches involved in the rescue and care of wildlife and we have a dedicated Rescue Office that operates 365 days a year assisting the community to help native animals in distress.
WIRES helps tens of thousands of animals every year, receiving up to 95,000 requests for rescue advice and assistance every 12 months.
