Your Independent Member for Bass We need parliamentarians who put the interests of the community ahead of the interests of the few.
I believe that we are entering a new era of changes, away from the old organised and tribal mainstream politics and into real diversity in political ideas including respectful debates. That is the best way to create a happy and harmonious community. I am entering politics because I feel I can make a difference and have a lot to contribute, and it will give me an opportunity to continue serving my community.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas
With Christmas almost here, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on this time of year and the act of giving. And to the hundreds of volunteers giving their time to make Christmas special for those who may be struggling, I say thank you – your efforts are at the heart of what really matters, kindness and a shared purpose. Merry Christmas to all.
School's out for 2025 so I thought it would be timely to share a speech from the last sitting of Parliament, paying tribute to our young Tasmanians, who are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but leaders of today. We must mentor, encourage, challenge and celebrate them. Let us help them see the greatness they may not yet see in themselves because when young people are inspired, they don't just imagine a better world, they create one.

During the past two weeks I have had the honour of attending several school award ceremonies and have been so impressed by our young people and the dedicated teams of teachers and support staff who work so hard to create supportive and inspiring environments that allow students to learn, grow and thrive. These celebrations play an important role in learning journeys, recognising effort and perseverance. It's exciting to see our young people embracing school life and opening doors to opportunities and dreams.
I am deeply saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting at Bondi Beach. Sending my heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and wider community of those killed or injured.

A wonderful celebration of Christmas carols at both Lilydale and the West Tamar in Exeter. Thank you to everyone who helped make these events so special 🎶

I had a wonderful time today walking through Holy Trinity Church, where there are marvellous displays of Christmas nativity scenes. They vary greatly in size and structure, but each one beautifully tells the Christian story of the very first Christmas.
It’s open every morning from 11am to 2pm, and you can even vote for your favourite nativity scene.

It was fantastic to be among the gowns, caps and wide smiles that filled the Launceston Conference Centre on Wednesday as the Children's University graduation ceremony celebrated the achievements of our wonderfully talented, energetic and passionate young people. This program, which “collaborates with schools and the community to inspire children and young people aged 7-14”, is about “fostering confidence and nurturing curiosity through a wide range of informal learning opportunities”. It is such an exciting initiative because when we inspire young people, the benefits come back to all of us. Inspired young people contribute ideas that help solve community challenges and they inspire other young people. Congratulations to all graduates.

Wonderful presentations at the Punchbowl Grade 6 celebration evening and congratulations to all students for doing their best. I enjoyed giving the Taxonomy Award. You might be wondering what’s that? It is the science of naming, describing and classifying organisms - a branch of biology.

A huge congratulations to all Grade 6 students from Scottsdale Primary School as they enter a new era in their school journey - I wish you all the very best in your adventure into high school.

It was great today to help launch Lucille Gee’s memoir, “My family’s encounter with the Vietnam war 1965-1973”, based on her brother Rhodes in the navy. It was well written and easy to read with fascinating stories of a life of an Ordinary Seaman on HMAS Sydney 111 during the war and after retirement. It was amazing to learn about how a guide dog was used to support people with mental health challenges — and with such remarkable success.
Had such a wonderful afternoon watching the New Horizons song, dance, and choir groups present their annual concert. 🎶✨
It was a truly beautiful display of enthusiasm, heart, and pure joy — such a reminder of the magic that song and dance can bring to people’s lives 💕🌟
