Labor ‘didn’t tell us the truth’ before we voted: Peta Credlin 05/06/2022

Sky News host Peta Credlin says the "dishonesty" of Labor in the election campaign is now writ large.

"The last thing we need is more self-interested political layers in our system, I reckon we are over-governed as it is," she said.

I couldn't agree more Peta...

Why did I run as a candidate in this federal election?

Because I truly believed in policies like paying down the HUGE 1 trillion $$$ debt via an export excise tax on iron ore, abolishing student debt and capping interest rates to 3% for the next 5 years.

United Australia Party TRIED to save Aussies from losing their homes, many people told me whilst at pre-poll booths that the party was scaremongering.

Nearly a fortnight after the election, many people NOW see mortgage stress is very real and it's happening much faster than I anticipated.

Time for bumper stickers ”I voted UAP - don’t blame me!’ 🤣😂

But seriously, it's no consolation for me to place everything I had on the line to get elected and be a genuine voice for the people of Cowan.

Post-election, the news is now producing articles that paint a glum picture of the cost of living price hikes and home loan interest rate hikes, sadly, it won’t take much before people have to sell up.. or have their homes repossessed.

Difficult times ahead…

"Yesterday……. All my troubles seemed so far away"

Beatles

Well, not for the approximately 1 million workers, on Tuesday 2nd June, WA Premier Mark McGowan told at his now infamous closed press conferences, that workers MUST receive their third mandatory jab in order to earn an income.

With just one day lapsing, today Premier McGown announced from Friday next week vaccination mandates from workplaces except for “high-risk groups” namely, health care, residential aged care, and disability settings will be dropped.

I for one would love to see the health advice on how within a 24-hour period, the best health advice can be so diametrically opposed.

Unfortunately, though, the employer versus employee relationships has changed and not for the better. Premier McGowan has empowered corporate employers as well as certain areas of public sector agencies, without disclosed health advice or any risk-based assessment to keep ongoing mandates if an employer chooses.

Do not forget WA, is still under a "State of Emergency" (SoE) and before the current SoE has even expired, McGowan via his non-elected bureaucrat Chief Health Officer Andrew Robertson has been extended until January 2023.

History will show that it was not without good reason, one of the United Australia Party election commitments was to abolish Government and employers from mandating a yet-to-be-proven vaccine.

Especially in light of these “mandates” which ALL could have been reversed in a blink of an eye.

Today’s announcement is nothing more than a distraction from Premier Mark McGowan and failed WA Health Minister Roger Cooks very convenient and timely departure for their world tour - (Six countries to be exact) to attract people to our Draconian “red” state.

McGowan would either feel WA can do without his leadership, which many would agree or in my view, something is about to come to the surface.

Today should NOT be seen as a win for the people, many of whom have been coerced to partake in the world’s largest clinical trial to compromise one’s body autonomy.

Today like yesterday when all our troubles could have been understood with political transparency, is another day we still do not have the answers a truly democratic society deserves from its Premier.

Planning should be about building communities 🏘

I know too well the struggles residents have faced in recent years with planning policies eroding our quality of life, with loss of tree canopy, privacy, and solar access, along with traffic and parking pressures.

After years of community pushback, the City of Joondalup has agreed to a review of the planning framework. This review has the potential to address this situation to foster and preserve the sense of community that exists in the City of Joondalup, while continuing to meet the economic and environmental objectives of urban development.

As your councillor I will advocate for stronger strategic direction for sustainable housing development in appropriate areas. It's important that our community is involved in the decision-making process at every stage to ensure the planning framework is one that works for the residents.

I will also make sure that the City of Joondalup does all it can to advocate for better planning outcomes from our State Government. Without critical changes to Third Party Appeal Rights, JDAP and sensible State Planning Policies, the residents will continue to feel disempowered. I believe that the blame game between State and local government must stop, and we need to work together to deliver planning for people. As your representative I will work with all elected members and the City to ensure we’re playing our part in making it happen.

Fun fact: I’m an avid golfer🏌️‍♂️ and Joondalup is my favourite location - especially the Quarry and Lakes courses. I’ve been playing recreationally for a few years and love the social aspect and being outdoors.

This breathtaking course is a challenge for all levels and has lots to offer locals and visitors alike.

"Parking not good. Businesses suffer because of parking issues."

"Paid parking is a real way to deter visitors."

"The shops should be individual buildings all with street frontage and free parking as part of each building."

It’s clear that parking 🚗is an issue for residents, visitors and business owners in the City of Joondalup. I’m advocating for free parking in the CBD for the first hour to encourage visitation, promote local business and help boost the economy.

Fun fact: I come from a family of blackbelts, so I’ve always considered self defence and personal safety to be very important. I train at Krav Maga Perth to gain confidence and discipline 🥊 and learn to reinforce boundaries, both physical and emotional 💪 It goes without saying that safety and wellbeing in our community should be a key council focus. Everyone has the right to feel safe.

I asked residents and business owners if they had any concerns about living in the City of Joondalup (North Ward). I understand how important it is to have a representative that takes the time to listen, engage with, and act on behalf of the community.

I've been listening - and you have a lot to say.

Claire For The North – Together we can fight for change 21/09/2021

This evening at the Joondalup City Council meeting, I presented a petition to Councillor Russell Poliwka and made a public statement for 1 hr free on-street parking across the CBD, with some short term 15 min-free parking bays included at strategic locations, Monday to Friday.

The petition was carried and the next stage is that the City will prepare a report on the petition.

Thank you to all the Joondalup CBD business owners and residents who signed the petition 🙌🚘

The countdown to the AFL Grand Final begins! 🥳

It's an exciting time for sport in WA. We're lucky in Joondalup to be home to two of the biggest sporting teams in Perth - the Wanneroo Basketball Association's Wolfpack Basketball 🏀 and the oldest existing football club in WA, West Perth Football Club 🏈

With several home games played throughout the season, watching these teams play can be a great day out for the family and a way to support local businesses.

One thing I appreciate about the City of Joondalup is the natural beauty right at our doorstep. It’s important we preserve a balance between open spaces and commercial and residential development so we have sustainable living spaces for future generations.

Right now, parking in the City of Joondalup CBD on weekdays is free for the first 15 minutes only. Do you agree that this should be extended to one hour to encourage greater visitation? Comment using an emoji below.

If you support free 1 hour parking, come down to Dome Joondalup on Saturday 18 Sep from 9.30-10.30am where I’ll be collecting signatures for a petition I’ll be submitting to the council about this issue.
