We need to maintain livable spaces for humans and our local flora and fauna. Without vegetation our cities will heat up more, without food growing in urban areas there will be more strain to maintain carbon -intensive agriculture in already degraded areas. Sustainable agriculture needs to happen, I'm hoping I can help in my own small way.

Sowed some seeds into area where I did some weeding.Carrots, while the rain is still around to germinate them.
Spring onions and climbing beans and some random yummy basil varieties. Plenty of basil self seeds anyway, but I want to be able to make Thai salads in summer, so regular bouts of self sown coriander is also the go.

Cutting up old towels to make dish cloths or face cloths. These will be dish cloths coz they’re dirt colour.
I’ve learned that you really have to do the edges well so you don’t end up with tiny bits of towel every where.
This is one of the things I use the heavy duty machine for. It goes wayyyyy faster than the brother one does.
Sunny today, planted some spuds that were sprouting.
Great to have shorts on again.
It’s been ages. Still around. It’s winter. My neck hurts. Wish it didn’t.

Hello folks. Been a while, huh. Haven't been gardening much but have been doing a lot of sewing, mostly dog collars that we sell.
This week I cut out some more farbric squares and made some patchwork squares and started to sew them for a quilt.
I'm not sure what the backing or inside will be yet. I do have some shiny stuff that would be good for the underneath side, but not sure if it would make the whole thing slippery.
Inside might be a blanket as I don't want to buy or use batting, if I can. It's not cold enough to use a real quilt here.
It doesn't take all that long to bring it all together once the squares are done. It's nice not doing worky stuff for a couple of weeks.
Edit. I did it. Mega. It’s so cute.
Pox parties.

These were still happening 25-30 years ago. I'm dumbfounded. Before that there might not have been a good vaccine, but ooft.
Pox party - Wikipedia A pox party (also flu party etc.) is a social activity where children are deliberately exposed to an infectious disease. Such parties were done before vaccines were available, to "get it over with," or because it was believed childhood disease would be less severe than disease as an adult.[1][2] For...
