It’s been a privilege and an honour, Canberra. But as of today, it’s Rattenbury out. 🤜🎤

The housing system isn’t just “under pressure”, it’s straight up failing. Rents are at record highs, the cost of living is cooked, and people are being told to just deal with it. Right now, we need action that actually matches the scale of the crisis, not more hand wringing.

Today, the are again calling for the federal government to step in and fund a freeze on rent increases. Because when people are already doing it tough, the last thing they should be stressing about is whether their rent is about to jump again.

Because at the end of the day, this crisis isn’t just about money. It’s about your time, your relationships, your ability to breathe. It’s cancelled plans, skipped meals, constant stress. The cost of living isn’t some abstract economic term, like those on big figures in the parliament might think, it’s impacting people’s everyday lives, and it’s starting to take a real toll.

When community is under attack, we stand up and fight back.

When Aboriginal rights are under attack, we stand up and fight back.

Right now, Canberra’s only Northside Aboriginal health service is at risk of shutting its doors, because Labor, those in power chose not to fund it.

This is healthcare. This is life and death.

So today, we stand up and fight back.

This is an honest-to-god Google search from today where the Minister for Transport is BOTH: 1️⃣ encouraging Canberrans to use public transport more and 2️⃣ and in the same breath saying we can’t encourage people onto buses because they’ll be “too full”. Give it a go Googling it, it’s a good laugh.

Public housing built this city, and politicians keep trashing it, or neglecting it. Here’s the real story of how it got so messed up, and who’s responsible.

Folks, we've got a problem on our hands, and it's got to do with the climate. You see, we've now got a lone Labor Government in Canberra, and while many have long associated Canberra with strong climate action, that's only because the Greens were able to push the government in the right direction. ⏩

Right now though, Labor's hubris about governing alone has meant we've got a Labor Climate Minister. One who comes from a party that put forward no new climate policies at the last election, and one who has delayed the release of a new climate strategy to move our city forward by more than a year. 💣

Since then, emissions have GONE UP in Canberra for the first time since the Greens first begun work in the portfolio over a decade ago. It's not a good sign, but equally, it's not entirely surprising given Labor clearly does not care about doing the work properly.

That's why this is the time that we need to mobilise. In the face of climate indifference from OUR government, WE, the people, need to rise up and demand more: demand better. That's why I'm imploring to join our community climate town hall about Labor's absent climate strategy, next week. BE THERE, it'll be worth it. 🔥

Move over “curry for the country”, and hello to... miles for memory? Any of you who know me know I’m an avid runner, so it was great to put that skill to the test for a cause with Goodwin Aged Care Services at their Memory Walk the other week. Rumour has it, they’ve already raised $125,000 to support thousands of Australians living with Dementia.
