Labor said they wouldn't cut.
They said they would just grow more slowly.
They said they could afford to do it all.
They said there were no redundancy programs.
They hid this until after the sitting week.
Now the first cuts are public, the big question is how many more jobs will have to go because of Labor's debt crisis?
The public sector union is warning the move could lead to a loss of city services.

The Government has announced the completion of the Molonglo Valley Ambulance and Fire Station (located in Weston Creek). Just a bit worried the Minister didn't even mention the Molonglo Valley Police Station they promised last election. Perhaps a Budget announcement Marisa Paterson MLA?

There's a lot in the independent report released today. As Shadow Treasurer, there are two things that really stand out:
1. The report says "the ACT's financial position cannot be characterised as sustainable", and
2. The report shows Labor made conscious decisions that put Canberra in this position.
Canberra's fiscal future depends on honest budgets, disciplined spending, and a credible path back to fiscal sustainability.

There are some serious issues that need to be addressed in Civic.
"It's almost a national disgrace that the CBD of the national capital… I don't think you'd call the middle of the Garema Place area, which used to be the beating heart of the CBD, a beating anything anymore. It's beaten," Clubs ACT chief executive Mr Shannon said.
