Some of you may have noticed a very big guy working in our kitchen from time to time. 😆 His name is Greg!

Greg is from South Korea 🇰🇷 and was actually an elite basketball player during his middle and high school years. 🏀 After that, he discovered his passion for cooking and began building a new career as a chef. During his working holiday in Australia, he happened to find Café 63 Raintrees, and somehow we’ve been lucky enough to keep him around for almost a year now. 😊

One of the most unique things about Greg is that, despite his basketball background, his greatest passion has always been football (soccer)! ⚽ Ever since becoming an adult, he has made it a tradition to travel and experience the FIFA World Cup whenever he can.

And of course, the upcoming World Cup in North America is no exception! 🌎✈️

To support the one hobby he truly loves, we have happily granted him three weeks off to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience. ❤️

Of course, losing one of our key kitchen members for three weeks makes things a little more challenging for the team, but seeing Greg happy is worth it. 💪😁

We hope he has an amazing holiday, creates unforgettable memories, and returns with plenty of exciting stories to tell! 🎉

So when you see Greg again, make sure to ask:

“Greg, how was the World Cup?” ⚽🏆

Be warned… you might end up listening to stories for the next couple of hours! 😂🤣

🎣☀️ A very rare and special day!

For the first time in a long while, all of the core team members at Cafe63 Raintrees had the same day off together. 😊

Today, Chef Choi invited the team to Palm Cove Jetty for a fishing trip. 🐟🌊

We even caught a fish over 40cm long! More importantly, we had the chance to share personal stories, talk about our customers, and discuss our hopes and plans for the future—conversations we don’t always have time for during our busy workdays.

Sometimes I find myself wondering:
“How am I lucky enough to work alongside such wonderful people?” ❤️

It seems that positive thoughts and a positive mindset always attract good people and good energy. ✨

We all had a fantastic time together today, and tomorrow we’ll be back doing our very best to welcome and serve our customers once again. ☕🍳🍔

Unfortunately, there is one sad piece of news… 😅

Greg didn’t catch a single fish all day. 🎣❌

Meet Logan – our newest Cafe 63 team member!

When we first opened this café, Logan was only 3 years old.
Now he’s 7 years old. 👦💙

Maika is truly an amazing person.
She memorized more than 200 Cafe63 menu items in just 3 weeks and became able to cook by herself 😳👏

From the very first interview, I could already feel…

Originally, she came to our café wanting to work in the kitchen,
but now she can do Kitchen 🍳
Out Front 😊
and even Barista ☕ work as well!

Maybe calling her a “multi-player” is no longer enough…
She’s more like a triple-player now ⚾🔥

Kind of like Shohei Ohtani from the LA Dodgers 😆

She is always kind to customers,
gets along very well with the team,
and manages her own life with great discipline and positivity 🌸

Many people are curious about the name Café63.
The brand actually began on Brisbane’s famous Racecourse Road — at number 63.

Originally, a New Zealander named Hamish started the business as a small deli.
Over time, more and more people began coming not only for coffee, but also for food, and little by little the concept evolved into what is now Café63.

Today, Café63 is more than just a café.
It has grown into a place designed to feel like a welcoming neighbourhood restaurant — somewhere people can comfortably visit any time of the day.

With its large menu, affordable prices, and family-friendly atmosphere, Café63 gradually became loved by many communities across Queensland.

This photo was taken at the original Racecourse location, which no longer exists today.
The old 24/763 sign beside the sunflowers captures a small piece of Café63’s history — a reminder of how a humble deli grew into the brand people know today.

Chieko first came to our café for an interview in April last year.
At the time, I asked her one simple question:

“Can you work here for more than a year?”

She smiled calmly and answered,
“Yes, I can.”

And then something amazing happened.

She memorised more than 200 menu items in just 3 weeks 😳👏

But honestly, the most impressive thing about Chieko is not only her skill —
it’s her personality.

She is always calm,
always kind,
and always thoughtful toward the people around her.

At the same time, she is also quietly working toward her own future dream and business goals ☕✨
