Your infographic isn’t engaging.

It’s busy.

It’s colourful.

But it’s not connecting.

Real engagement doesn’t come from more icons or better gradients; it comes from meaning.

People don’t remember data.

They remember stories.

They remember when something clicks.

Visuals don’t exist to decorate information; they exist to move people.

If your audience isn’t talking about what they’ve seen, it’s not engagement...it’s noise.

🎨 Let’s turn your information into something people feel, not just scroll past.

Graphic recording can empower your event’s impact in huge ways. Don’t let your audience walk away with a vague memory of what happened, give them a visual prompt from the exact moment they thought ‘AHA!’

A client came to me with a clear brief.

They’d seen my work before and wanted that same visual storytelling style. Something engaging, creative, and clear.

It was for a big pitch to a major department. One of those projects where you know: this could really make an impact.

I nailed the concept. Two rounds of refinement.

It was bold, simple, and human — exactly what they asked for.

Then it went to another team.

Suddenly, it was too engaging and not serious enough.

They wanted it more corporate, more detailed, more...safe.

So we adjusted. Replaced the illustrations with icons. Removed the character. Smoothed out the edges until it was “clearer.”

What we ended up with looked fine, but it had no pulse, emotion, or story. It went from Neapolitan to Vanilla!

That’s when it hit me:

Not everyone understands what makes visual storytelling work.

It’s not about adding more. It’s about communicating clearly.

You can’t fake engagement. People feel it.

And when you strip away personality, you strip away connection.

I used to compromise, thinking “that’s just part of the job.”

Not anymore.

What I do is specific. It’s intentional. It’s valuable.

Visuals are how ideas stick, spread, and move people.

🎨 If you don’t trust the process, you lose the story.

When visuals are inclusive, understanding isn’t a privilege.

Not everyone learns the same way. Not everyone hears information and instantly connects the dots.

Some people need to see it. Some need to feel it. Some need to follow the story as it unfolds.

That’s why inclusive communication isn’t just about who’s in the room; it’s about how you reach them.

Visuals invite people in through different doors. They cut through attention spans, learning styles, and barriers. They make ideas accessible, not exclusive.

This is the new inclusivity. And it’s a priority for me.

🎨 Because when everyone can see the message, everyone can be part of it.

We’ve mistaken “busy” for “engaging.”

Your infographic might be beautiful.

But does it change anything? Does it make people care, act, or decide?

A visual without a strategy is just noise.

A visual with purpose has clarity, emotion, and direction.

That’s the difference between filling space and creating meaning.

Visuals aren’t just decoration; they’re direction.

Most brands use visuals to explain.

The best brands use them to transform.

Why?

Because visuals are how we process meaning, remember messages, and make decisions.

Without a story and strategy behind your visuals, you’re just colouring in the noise.

🧠 Don’t use visuals to fill space. Use them to make sense of it.

DM if you’re ready to communicate with purpose.

Illustrations are how we process complex issues like war, politics, loss, identity, and the human mess in between.

Not convinced? Remember Calvin and Hobbes?

Illustrations let people see themselves in ideas that would otherwise feel unreachable.

That’s why they work.

✅ They bypass jargon.
✅ They cut through ego.
✅ They speak to the part of us that feels before it debates.

You can explain the world in a 200-page report…or show it in a single frame.

When done right, a simple drawing can hold a truth too heavy for words.
